Haruhi

Description

Haru is a member of the Hellbenders. She is a minor spellcaster. Her sorcery is untrained, and despite years of practice she has only a limited access to low-level spells

Haru works at a garage in the Drains, where she fixes both vehicles and prosthetics. She has her own spinner that she has been restoring with the parts she accesses at the garage. As Foes Quillspring joined her place of work, they have become casual friends.

Initially, Haru displayed a quiet disposition. Over time and with increasing comfort with the members of Liutubang, she has revealed a more excitable side. She has a fascination with magitech machinery and has modified her own Spinner for the purpose of street racing. 

Within the Campaign

Haru was present for the ambush against Vic'tel Vianrodeth (Chim) and Do-Yun. She displayed a heightened degree of loyalty, staying behind to potentially intervene to save the dragonborn Su. When she saw that Chim and Do-Yun were at least not immediately going to kill him, she left.

She later approached Do-Yun to ask about the resolution of that confrontation, tense but ultimately tolerant. She also confessed to some of the Hellbender's activities, disturbed by the harm to the young Ihita  and the secrecy involved in their engagement with a third party.

Haru was also present for a demonic attack in the Drains. While others were paralyzed by the presence of the demon, Haru was able to speak and move with more freedom. Her words almost broke the trance on others. Once the demon was revealed and Liutubang joined the fray, she briefly lingered to help but ran when directed to by Tamara.

Haruhi later became the first indication of the invasion of lantern snakes in the smuggling routes around Faguang Lake. Her affliction left her bedridden and confused, having been threatened enough to cause her innate magic to flare for self-preservation. She also inadvertently provided a hideout to the party after they were targeted by Yu Atsushi and Seung.

Yu Atsushi would later target Haruhi to force her to act against Liutubang. By leveraging her parents, Atsushi was able to get Haru to lead Liutubang into fighting Kinzo, with the intention of exhausting them before making their own move. Haruhi complied with visible dread and reluctance. Following Liutubang's trial and founding, Haruhi explained what had happened and offered an apology for her role in harming them.

During the year since Liutubang's founding, Haruhi and Tamara became a couple.

History

Following their court trial, Liutubang learned of the history of Haru's parents. The two of them immigrated to Quyan from Tawashi with their daughter, and would later have Hiroki. A few years after his birth, the family business went under. Unable to pay off their debts, and unwilling to lose their children the house, they opted to work off the debts through labor to the Yu Clan. Since that point, Haru became the sole guardian to her younger brother.
