Though the party didn't know this until S02 - Seeking Solace, the Brinkhowl was present from the first moments of the campaign in S00 - Awakenings and S01 - Chaos in the Cargo Hold. The Brinkhowl was the “pick up crew” for the heist-gone-wrong that crippled the Starlight, though Captain Veyna Dask claimed in S03 - Frenemies that they never attacked directly, and she seemed genuinely surprised by the loss of Captain Marris and the others.
The Brinkhowl appeared again in S08 - Deja Vu, shadowing the Starlight as they headed to find the Dreamer. Veyna insisted they were just observing, even warning the Starlight of potential “Radiant” complications awaiting them on Myrren.
