In S06 - Roots Revealed, Faith Warden Varnus and two junior Paladins came to the Starlight to offer protection and escort to Rynerm. Varnus expressed concern about the Awakened, and asked Rynerm to accompany them to the main cathedral near Brackenfall for debriefing and safety. Rynerm said he had an urgent matter to attend to, but would report to the cathedral in two days.
In S07 - Faith and Secrets, Varnus was one of three Mandate figures who interviewed Rynerm at the Sanctum of the Vigilant Flame, pressing him on issues of duty and faith.
Was especially angered when Rynerm treated the conversation like a negotiation. “Were Harfax here, this would not be an 'inquiry', it would be a trial!” Once it was clear Rynerm wouldn't obey orders, Varnus declared him "already lost" and demanded his Paladin's cloak. (But by then, Rynerm has already used Avae's Whisperpin Token to escape.)
