Alan is a Unknown living in Hygon of the Pines, who befriended Syltorin Margaster while the latter was disguised as a Satyr named Aulos. He is skinny, has a long neck, looks somewhat like a hairless cat, and speaks with nasal tones. Lady Merehiki Songheart is Alan's superior, and as a member of the Court of the Pines, he is an announcer and bureaucrat.
Alan has a preserved grape collection at home, and invited Syltorin to partake in it. During the brawling match between Sirxus and Hrood, Alan's bet was on the latter. When Freygeys was assassinated, Alan panicked, clinging to 'Aulos' in terror. Suffice it to say, he's not the bravest thing around.
During an event organised by the Assembly of the Black Lotus, Alan paid a visit to First Landing, together with Lord Resias, Lord Ginyesh, Bertuas, Foul Insanity of the Dark Moon Carnival, Satyrical, and Lady Merehiki Songheart.
