Lucius

This character is dead.
The Master

Once a noble Mythar mage of the Mytharil Empire, Lucius was a paragon of virtue and a master of the arcane arts, widely respected for his strategic brilliance and unparalleled magical prowess. His calm demeanor, unwavering sense of justice, and commitment to the empire’s defense against the Elementari and Unknown made him one of the most renowned champions of his time. Lucius, alongside a band of chosen warriors, was tasked with leading the empire's defense, protecting the world from the cataclysmic forces that threatened to tear it apart.

Lucius, however, was not just any mage—he was the protégé of Valekith. Under Valekith's tutelage, Lucius became a formidable wielder of Rift Magic and a key figure in many battles during The Planar Rapture. Together, they worked to seal inter-planar rifts and repel incursions from chaos-daemons and the malevolent forces that sought to unravel the continuum. Valekith entrusted Lucius with many secrets of the continuum crystal and the mechanics of Rift Magic, molding him into a powerful ally of the empire.

Despite his virtues, Lucius harbored a deep fear of failure, which drove him to great lengths to safeguard the empire. This fear, however, became his undoing, as it left him vulnerable to Valekith’s ultimate betrayal. Valekith, in his quest for immortality and godhood, deceived Lucius and his companions, leading them to believe that their mission was to seal The Continuum Crystal to prevent the collapse of the Mytharil Empire.

In reality, Valekith had fractured the Continuum Crystal and hoarded its Infinity Shards to fuel his own twisted ritual, knowing full well that this would unleash the cataclysmic First Continuum Crisis. Lucius, leading the band of champions now known as the Crimson Hand, attempted to stop Valekith, but the archmage’s deception and mastery of dark magic proved too great. The ritual was completed, tearing open a rift to the Plane of Khaos and corrupting everything in its wake.

As the cataclysmic rift engulfed them, Lucius and his companions were twisted by the negative energies of The Netherveil, transformed into monstrous versions of their former selves. Lucius, in particular, was warped by the dark magic, his once-noble heart consumed by the shadows. He became Lucius the Master, a demonic champion who embraced his new form and wielded terrifying power. Leading the Crimson Hand, Lucius turned his back on the virtues he once sought to protect, becoming an enforcer of chaos and destruction.

With his newfound power, Lucius seized the Right Hand of Valekith, an artifact of immense dark energy, and used it to dominate the other warriors of the Crimson Hand Fortress. He became the most powerful of the demonic champions, feared throughout the Netherveil and beyond. Under Lucius's cruel leadership, the Crimson Hand waged war across the Netherveil, enslaving and destroying all in their path.

During the Battle of the Four Armies, Lucius’s reign of terror came to an end. The Sunsations, a legendary group of adventurers, confronted the forces of the Crimson Hand in a battle that shook the very foundations of the Netherveil. Lucius’s treachery was finally repaid when Archshadi Neverus reclaimed Valekith's severed hand, disintegrating Lucius’s body and ending his reign. With Lucius gone, the Crimson Hand was left shattered, and Valekith's ascension was one step closer.
