Astrid

This character is dead.
The Envious
NPC

Astrid was born in the Mytharil Empire, a civilization renowned for its mastery of arcane arts and advanced technology. From a young age, she exhibited exceptional talent in stealth and subterfuge, skills that set her apart in a society dominated by powerful mages and warriors. As a fallen Celestial, she faced the harsh realities of her environment with cunning and resourcefulness, traits that would serve her well in her later life.

Astrid's early years were marked by her relentless pursuit of knowledge and power. Unlike her peers, who sought recognition through magical prowess or physical strength, Astrid preferred to operate in the shadows. She became a master thief, using her skills to navigate the treacherous political landscape of the empire. Her ability to remain unseen and her knack for acquiring valuable information made her an invaluable asset to those who sought her services.

Though she was not a warrior in the traditional sense, Astrid's contributions to the Mytharilese Empire were significant. She thwarted numerous assassination attempts on key figures and uncovered plots that threatened the stability of the realm.

Astrid's envy and insatiable desire for power were her greatest weaknesses. She was never satisfied with her achievements and constantly sought more, driven by a deep-seated belief that she was destined for greater things. This ambition often led her to take reckless risks and make dubious alliances, ultimately setting the stage for her downfall.

During the cataclysmic events that led to the fall of the Mytharilese Empire, Astrid's life took a dark turn. Deceived by Valekith, the once-noble archmage who betrayed the empire, Astrid and her companions were transformed by the dark energies of The Shadowfell. As the empire crumbled around her,  Astrid was hit with the full impact of the rift, which difigured here beyond recognition and turned her into one of the Crimson Handa group of demonic champions led by Lucius.

Seeing potential in her cunning and resourcefulness, Lucius subjected Astrid to a ritual that bound her to demonic blood, transforming her into one of the Crimson Hand's most formidable members. Her envy and ambition were twisted into a malevolent force, and she became known as Astrid the Envious. Her once-beautiful features took on a sinister aspect, and her eyes gleamed with a hunger for power that could never be sated.

As a demonic champion, Astrid's abilities were greatly enhanced. She retained her skills in stealth and subterfuge but gained new powers that made her even more dangerous. Her ability to manipulate shadows allowed her to blend seamlessly into her surroundings, and her heightened senses made her an unparalleled tracker and assassin.

Despite her transformation, Astrid's cunning remained intact. She quickly adapted to her new role within the Crimson Hand, using her skills to further their goals while also plotting her own ascent to power. However, her insolence and defiance eventually led to a confrontation with Erwin, who severed her tongue to silence her rebellious spirit.

During the Battle of the Four Armies, Astrid's past caught up with her. As the conflict raged, she faced the risen Thomm, whose soul had been entrapped within Erwin's blade. Thomm, now free, sought vengeance against those who had wronged him. In a climactic battle, Astrid was ultimately defeated and killed by Thomm, ending her reign of terror and ambition.
