Castiel, along with Nualia Laren and The Sunsations, were at the forefront, grappling with a rapidly escalating situation. The infection’s first victim, a Triton warrior named Asarion, was a dear comrade of Castiel. Forced to make a harrowing decision, Castiel ended Asarion's life to prevent his transformation into an Illithid.

As chaos ensued in the wake of the infection, Brick of The Sunsations, in a desperate attempt to quell the infestation, unleashed a vile Circle of Death. The spell wreaked havoc, claiming countless innocent lives, including Triton warriors and civilians. This catastrophic act inadvertently weakened the city's defenses, causing the protective water wall that had protected it for many years to falter.

The sight of her childhood friend and lover being torn apart by Shanara left Nualia in a state of shock and despair, compounding the tragedy of Castiel's untimely demise.
