Brick, the young and socially awkward Earth Genasi wizard, is a fascinating figure within the realms of the Exarchs of the Earth. As the son of Exarch Gea and Exarch Hunk, two esteemed figures in the order, he carries a unique lineage of powerful elemental magic. Despite his impressive heritage, Brick's temperament sets him apart from others. Obsessed with the arcane arts, Brick spends most of his time poring intently over his spell book, immersing himself in the intricate world of magic. He finds comfort and solace in the company of scrolls and ancient tomes, where he feels most at home amidst their boundless knowledge.
Brick's appearance reflects his single-minded focus on his studies, often seen with shaved sides of his head and an unkempt mane of hair pulled back into a ponytail. His satchel, brimming with unorganized scrolls, constantly overflows at his waist, a testament to his insatiable thirst for learning. Despite the Exarchs' every effort to encourage him to explore the world beyond the confines of his studies, Brick remains unyielding in his commitment to his magical pursuits. Social interactions might prove challenging for him as he navigates the complexities of human relationships with an endearing awkwardness.
While he may seem reclusive to some, Brick finds solace and camaraderie among the Exarchs of the Earth, who respect his dedication to the craft of magic. They admire his tenacity and unwavering passion for understanding the secrets of the arcane. As a young Earth Genasi wizard on the cusp of greatness, Brick's journey promises to be a captivating tale of growth, self-discovery, and the untamed potential of magic. As he delves deeper into the arcane realm, the world awaits to witness the unfolding of his magical legacy.
A Journey Beyond Earth
No longer confined to the halls of the Exarchs of Earth, Brick begged his parents, Hunk and Gea, to let him leave on an adventure with The Sunsations—to see the world beyond the stone and soil he knew. To their surprise, they happily agreed. Thus began his wanderlust-fueled odyssey across the realms, from the ashen peaks of The Earth Realm to the depths of The Sea Realm, and even back to The Sun Realm within the Serrakhan Sultanate.
The Atlan Atrocity
In the Sea Realm, his journey took a dark turn. When an Illithid infection threatened the underwater city of Atla, Brick, believing he was helping to slay the infected, instead unleashed a necromantic catastrophe. The waters turned black as thousands of Triton and Unknown Sea Elves perished, their souls torn from their bodies in an instant. When Avatar Typhon returned from his search for the World Eater Serpent, he found a city in ruin and Brick at the heart of it. Enraged, he nearly ended the young Genasi then and there—but instead, he destroyed Brick’s “Clericy” tome, revealing it to be a book of Necromancy that Brick had misunderstood all along (see: The Atlan Atrocity).
A New Way Forward
Stripped of his false knowledge and burdened by his mistakes, Brick was saved in the nick of time by Archmage Kelak Nilfard, former Avatar of Air, who had come to aid the Sunsations in repelling the illithid. Rather than punishment, Kelak gifted him the Tome of Clear Thought, urging him to seek true wisdom instead of blind faith in misunderstood power.
Bones, the Skeletal Cat
Despite his missteps, Brick's quirks remained unchanged. He adopted a skeletal cat, whom he affectionately named Bones, convinced he was "healing" it. To this day, he remains blissfully unaware that the cat is, in fact, very much undead.
Looking to the Riftways
Seeking to atone and learn, Brick traveled to Aerenal alongside Guy the Grateful and Septimus Lucien, where he studied under Xavier Farric and the Vanir scholars, learning of the Riftways, Ether, and the delicate balance of magic. Under the boughs of the Aegis Tree, he found a new understanding of magic, one not based on raw power but clarity, patience, and purpose.
Now, as Brick walks forward, carrying the weight of his past yet embracing the lessons of his journey, he stands at the crossroads of fate—no longer just a wayward scholar, but a seeker of true knowledge.
