Asmodeus was once the Archangel of Justice within the Unknown, a divine being of immense power and authority tasked with upholding the divine ordinances of Unknown himself. As one of the most revered angels, Asmodeus was entrusted with protecting the creations of Helios, particularly the True Dragon and their divine charge over the sentient species they created. However, during the catastrophic Elf uprising against the True Dragons, Asmodeus found himself torn between his duty to protect the dragons and his growing disillusionment with the mortal races, particularly the elves, who had betrayed their creators.

Fall from Grace

Witnessing the treachery of the elves—creatures who owed their very existence to the benevolence of the dragons—Asmodeus began to question the order he had sworn to protect. The betrayal of elf against dragon weighed heavily on him, and his inner turmoil grew into a festering resentment. Unable to reconcile the mortal sins of betrayal, envy, and pride with his celestial mandate, Asmodeus made the fateful decision to rise against the Unknown itself.

In secret, Asmodeus began to corrupt the other seven archangels who served alongside him, each of them succumbing to the temptations of sin after witnessing the dark nature of mortal creation. Pride, envy, lust, wrath, greed, sloth, and gluttony—all these sins were reflected in the elves’ rebellion, and each fallen archangel took on a sin as their defining trait. Together, they conspired to break free from their divine duties and embrace the darker path of corruption.

For his treachery, Asmodeus was cast down from the Plane of Helion by Helios himself. Alongside the seven other fallen angels, he was banished to the Plane of Khaos, a chaotic realm where their divine light was extinguished and replaced by the primordial corruption of Khaos itself. There, Asmodeus and the fallen angels transformed into the first Demons, their celestial forms twisted into grotesque and fearsome representations of their sins.

Warden of the Nine Hells

In the depths of the Plane of Khaos, Asmodeus established his dominion over The Nine Hells, a hellish realm created to torment the souls of mortals condemned for their sins. From the eighth layer of Hell, Avernus, Asmodeus rules as the Warden of Hell, ensuring that the souls of the wicked are punished in accordance with the sins they committed during their lives. He created the Soul Forge, an infernal device that processes and twists mortal souls, breaking them down and reshaping them into lesser demons or damned spirits, depending on the severity of their sins.

The Nine Hells, while chaotic in nature, are maintained with a strict hierarchy and order that reflects Asmodeus' cunning and obsession with control. Each of the nine layers is governed by a demon prince who serves under Asmodeus, but none can match his intelligence, power, or sheer malevolent will. He keeps the layers in balance and is fanatically protective of the structure of Hell, knowing that if it falls, it will be consumed by the Void of Infinitum, a realm of endless chaos and nothingness that even Asmodeus himself fears.

The Forge of Souls

Asmodeus is believed to be responsible for the creation of the Soul Forge, a vast infernal engine that harnesses the torment and suffering of mortal souls to fuel the Nine Hells. Souls condemned to Hell are brought before the Forge, where they are subjected to unimaginable torment, their essences slowly stripped away until they lose their identity and become part of the infernal hierarchy.

Each soul is judged and processed according to its sin, and the most heinous are sent to the deepest layers of Hell to be eternally tormented. For instance, the souls of those consumed by wrath are sent to Irath, where they wage endless battles against one another, while the gluttonous are cast into Galor, where they are consumed by their own insatiable hunger.

Deal with The Devil

Asmodeus is known for his extraordinary cunning and manipulative nature. Unlike other demon princes who revel in chaos and destruction, Asmodeus prefers to work through intrigue, manipulation, and long-term strategies. He enjoys playing games with mortals, tempting them with dark pacts and offering power, wealth, or influence in exchange for their souls.

As a master of deception, Asmodeus often appears to mortals as a suave and charismatic figure, dressed in fine red silk robes adorned with golden laces. He exudes an air of confidence and charm, luring mortals into his schemes with promises of grandeur. However, this appearance is only a façade; in truth, Asmodeus' true form is far more terrifying—a fallen archangel with scorched wings, blackened eyes, and a body twisted by the corruption of Khaos.

Fear the Void

Despite his power and control over the Nine Hells, Asmodeus harbors a deep fear of the Void of Infinitum, the abyssal realm of pure chaos and madness where only the eternal dreams of Unknown reign supreme. Should the Nine Hells ever fall into complete disorder, Asmodeus fears that it will collapse into this void, where even his cunning and calculating schemes would be rendered meaningless. This fear drives him to maintain the rigid order of Hell, ensuring that the layers of the Nine Hells remain intact and that the demonic hierarchy functions without interruption.

Legacy

As the Archdevil of the Nine Hells, Asmodeus stands is a powerful antagonist of divine order. His fall from grace and subsequent rise to power in Hell symbolize the dangers of pride, ambition, and unchecked desire for control. While he was once a being of justice, his twisted sense of morality and insatiable lust for power led him down a path of corruption that now plagues the mortal and divine realms alike.

Though he cannot escape his banishment to the Plane of Khaos, his influence is felt across all planes, as mortals continue to fall prey to his promises and the allure of his dark power. His games of manipulation, his pacts, and his cunning strategies ensure that Asmodeus will remain a threat to both the Pantheon of Primus and the mortal world for eons to come.
