Hosts of Helion

The Hosts of Helion are Celestial angels created from the very essence of stars by Helios, the God of Life and Light, to serve as protectors and warriors of the Pantheon of Primus. These divine beings are the embodiment of Helios' will and act as enforcers of order across the realms, serving the gods in both war and peace. During The Planar Rapture, the Hosts of Helion were instrumental in battling the Elementari—chaotic remnants of the Eldari—and restoring balance to the cosmos. Today, they continue to serve the divine will of the Primus deities, acting as intermediaries and executors of their plans across the planes of existence.

Appearance and Origin

Each angel of the Hosts of Helion is forged from the pure light and energy of the stars, their forms radiant and nearly blinding to mortals. They are towering figures, with wings of shimmering light and eyes that glow with divine purpose. Clad in armor made from celestial metals, their appearance reflects the purity of their creation, unmarred by mortal influences. Their ethereal beauty and commanding presence make them awe-inspiring and fearsome in equal measure.

The Hosts were created by Helios in the aftermath of the Solis Singularity, when the Pantheon of Primus sought to maintain order throughout the newly-formed cosmos. Helios shaped the angels from the stardust of dying stars, imbuing them with divine strength and purpose. Each celestial warrior is bound to the laws of the cosmos, with unwavering loyalty to the Primus gods.

Role in the Planar Rapture

During the Planar Rapture, a cosmic war between the Primus gods and the Elementari, the Hosts of Helion fought alongside their divine creators, acting as an unbreakable shield against the onslaught of the Elemental Titans. These angels were key in subduing and defeating the chaotic forces, driving the Elementari back to their elemental planes, and restoring harmony to the realms.

In the heat of battle, the Hosts of Helion stood as an indomitable force, their celestial blades cutting through the strongest steel, while their divine light repelled the encroaching darkness of Khaos. Many of the landscapes of the Prime Plane and beyond still bear the marks of their intervention, with great valleys, mountains, and craters formed by their powerful clashes with the Titans. Their valor and sacrifice during this ancient war solidified their role as the eternal guardians of the cosmos.

Command Structure and Talos' Leadership

While Helios created the Hosts of Helion, he does not directly command them in everyday matters. The angels are now under the leadership of Talos, the God of Vigilance and Vengeance. Talos, a stern and unforgiving deity, ensures the Hosts remain vigilant in their duty to the Pantheon of Primus. Talos directs their actions in the physical and spiritual realms, dispatching them to quell threats, maintain divine order, or defend the realms from cosmic forces that seek to disrupt the balance.

Under Talos' command, the Hosts act as protectors of divine law, intervening when mortal actions or supernatural events threaten the delicate balance of the cosmos. They are often sent to maintain the stability of the Riftways or to challenge demonic incursions from the Plane of Khaos. In rare cases, they directly engage in conflicts on the Prime Plane, ensuring that chaos does not overrun mortal civilizations.

Arbiters of Divine Will

Most of the Primus deities cannot physically manifest in the elemental planes of existence -- except through avatars -- with the notable exception of Helios, who possesses the unique ability to appear in his true form across the planes. The Hosts of Helion serve as the gods' divine will in their absence, acting as messengers, protectors, and enforcers of their commands. Whether called to war, to judge, or to deliver warnings to mortals, the Hosts are ever-ready to carry out their sacred duty.

In many cases, the Hosts act as intermediaries between mortals and the divine, carrying out judgments or fulfilling divine prophecies. When the gods are unable to act directly, the Hosts embody their will, ensuring that the fabric of reality remains stable and that their influence is felt across the realms.

Legacy and Legends

The Hosts of Helion continue to be a formidable force in the cosmos, safeguarding the balance that was hard-won during the Planar Rapture. Their loyalty to the Pantheon of Primus is unwavering, and they serve as the ultimate enforcers of divine law. Though they are rarely seen by mortals, their presence is always felt, especially during times of great strife or cosmic imbalance.

As Talos leads them into the future, the Hosts of Helion stand ready to protect the realms, maintain the order established by the Primus gods, and act as the celestial champions of the divine. Their ongoing role as protectors and warriors ensures that the forces of chaos and darkness never again threaten to unmake the cosmos.
