Class Ideas

Here's how each character class might fit into the Seregon campaign, focusing on the unique aspects of the city and its setting:

Barbarian

  • Interesting Aspect: A Barbarian might represent the untamed forces still present in and around Seregon, perhaps originating from the local Land of Moog as a Nosgar Tribe member or from nearby Elephant Island, or the continents beyond. They could be a protector of these wild places or a force of nature clashing with the city's more civilized elements.
  • Story Hook: The character could be a tribe member from the jungles who has ventured into the city, struggling with its strange customs while staying true to their tribal roots. You could be a Teosian barbarian, fighting the slavers that took your family.

Bard

  • Interesting Aspect: Seregon is a city filled with history, intrigue, and diverse cultures, making it a perfect setting for a Bard. Whether as a Tabaxi storyteller fascinated by ancient relics or a charismatic performer stirring up political unrest, a Bard could thrive in the city's vibrant social scene.
  • Story Hook: A Tabaxi Bard might be on a quest to uncover lost stories and songs, using their performances to influence powerful figures in the Assembly.

Cleric

  • Interesting Aspect: With the city's many temples (Temple Way) and religious conflicts, a Cleric could find themselves at the center of Seregon's spiritual and political struggles. They might work to heal the rifts between factions or become a powerful voice in The Assembly.
  • Story Hook: A Cleric of Ishtar might be involved in the search for Naraye Fockezoon or navigating the delicate balance of power among the city’s religious leaders.

Druid

  • Interesting Aspect: Given the city's proximity to wild lands and the corruption of the Mycelium Network, a Druid would be deeply connected to the ongoing struggle between nature and civilization in Seregon. The druids are headquartered at the Sacred Grove.
  • Story Hook: A Druid might seek to protect the remnants of Elephant Island's ancient forests or oppose the spread of the Mycelium Network corruption.

Fighter

  • Interesting Aspect: The Dragonborn of the Keep of the Immortals offer a perfect backdrop for a Fighter, particularly one who values honor, discipline, and martial prowess. Alternatively, a Fighter could be a mercenary navigating the city's many conflicts, such as the Ithosian Talons.
  • Story Hook: A Dragonborn Fighter might be dealing with the tensions between the enclave and the rest of the Westerpark District, or serving as a bodyguard to a member of the Assembly.

Monk

  • Interesting Aspect: Monks could be part of a secluded order within Seregon, dedicated to preserving ancient traditions or uncovering lost knowledge. Their discipline and self-sufficiency would resonate with the city’s theme of old versus new. There's a monk order for each of the 14 temples in the city (Temple Way).
  • Story Hook: A Monk might be from a hidden monastery within the city, tasked with protecting a sacred artifact in Offerman Tower or uncovering the mysteries of the ancient Phoor elves.

Paladin

  • Interesting Aspect: A Paladin in Seregon could be a beacon of hope in a city rife with corruption. They might be driven to bring justice, protect the weak, or uphold the law in a city where moral lines are often blurred. See Order of the Dawn and Knights of the Veil and Knights of the Ascendant Flame.
  • Story Hook: An Oath of Redemption Paladin could be trying to save the Darakhul or cleanse the city of its darker influences, while an Oath of Conquest Paladin might seek to impose order by force.

Ranger

  • Interesting Aspect: With the city surrounded by jungles, ruins, and wilderness, a Ranger would be in their element, whether as a hunter, scout, or guide. They could be tracking dangerous beasts or protecting the city from outside threats.
  • Story Hook: A Ranger could be part of The Telum, searching for Clement Schoonoven, or a guide leading expeditions into the treacherous jungles of Elephant Island.

Rogue

  • Interesting Aspect: Seregon’s complex social and political landscape, coupled with various Gangs hoping to get noticed by the Seven Sins guid. They could be a master manipulator, a stealthy infiltrator, or a skilled treasure hunter.
  • Story Hook: A Rogue might be tasked with retrieving a dangerous artifact, or an Arcane Trickster uncovering hidden truths of the Hall of Records.

Sorcerer

  • Interesting Aspect: Sorcerers, with their innate magical abilities, could find themselves deeply connected to Seregon’s arcane mysteries. Whether their powers stem from ancient elven magic or something more sinister, they would be a force to be reckoned with in the city.
  • Story Hook: A Sorcerer could be tied to the elven decadence of Al-Strahal or the remnants of the wizard-kings of Elephant Island, grappling with the source and implications of their power.

Warlock

  • Interesting Aspect: Warlocks, with their pacts and connections to otherworldly beings, would have a unique place in a city where cults and ancient evils like Krang 'The Dead One' exist. They could be delving into forbidden knowledge or struggling with their own dark patron’s influence.
  • Story Hook: A Warlock might be tied to the Mycelium Network, seeking to either harness its power or prevent its apocalyptic awakening, or they could be a cultist struggling to break free from their pact.

Warlock (Pact of the Great Old One)

Why it's interesting: With the looming threat of Great Old Ones like Krang and cults such as the Cult of the Bloody Tongue, a Warlock with ties to these eldritch powers could explore the dark undercurrents of Seregon. This character might be torn between their pact and their desire to protect the city, leading to rich role-playing opportunities.

Unique angle: You could be a Warlock who seeks to understand and counteract the influence of the Mycelium Voidheart or the Cult, using your own dark powers as a double-edged sword.

Wizard

  • Interesting Aspect: A Wizard in Seregon could be at the forefront of the city’s intellectual and mystical pursuits. Whether studying in Offerman Tower or manipulating the city's politics through arcane knowledge, a Wizard would be deeply entwined with the city’s secrets.
  • Story Hook: A Wizard could be a rival of Master Faber, seeking access to the Tower’s forbidden tomes, or a member of the Wizards of the Black Ring, pursuing their own dark goals.

Each of these classes would offer a unique and engaging experience in the richly detailed world of Seregon, allowing for deep roleplaying opportunities and exciting adventures.
