Sentinel Island

Sentinel Island rises majestically from the turbulent waters of the Ravaged Sea, standing 50 miles south of Seregon like a guardian at the threshold of the city. Its jagged peaks and steep cliffs create a formidable sight for any approaching vessel, but the island's most iconic feature is the colossal busts of the four legendary ~Sentinels of Seregon, carved into the mountainside. These statues, crafted by the god Tarab himself, depict the Sentinels in their prime—heroes who fought valiantly to save the Holy State of Tarab, only to fail in the end. The busts portray a young human male wizard in a pointed cap, a fierce female dwarven warrior, a sly, male elven rogue with a knowing smirk, and a female elven druid adorned with a horned helm. The monument is a testament to their bravery and sacrifice, a silent watch over the seas that has stood for centuries.

Once, the island was a thriving stronghold and rest stop for sailors heading to Seregon. At its heart stood a castle, complete with a keep, a wizard’s tower, and a tranquil druidic grove. The Taste of Sahar, a renowned tavern and inn, drew travelers from across the seas, making the island a vibrant waypoint. The Sentinels themselves used the island to vet particularly dangerous travelers, sending word to Seregon about anyone of note. Over 100 troops once garrisoned the castle, supported by a small village, also named Sentinel, that thrived in the shadow of the stronghold. However, after the Sentinels retired and their forces found employment in Seregon, the island was abandoned, the tavern closed, and powerful wards were placed to protect the castle from trespassers. These wards are still monitored by Ambergris the Wizard, ensuring that no one enters uninvited. Recently, rumors have surfaced about strange earthquakes in the region, and travelers speak of the mountains reshaping themselves to reveal a fifth bust—one without a face.

Sentinel Island: The Chamber of the Marshal

Sentinel Island stands as a testament to lost heroism and maritime mystery, rising defiantly from the tumultuous Ravaged Sea, 50 miles south of Seregon. Dominated by the monumental busts of the Sentinels of Seregon carved into its cliffs, this island once thrived as a bastion for sailors, soldiers, and adventurers. Now abandoned, its castle and village lie in ruin, sealed and warded by the ancient wizard Ambergris.

Beneath the island, hidden in an abandoned cave complex accessible only by navigating treacherous waters, lies The Chamber of the Marshal. This secret room, veiled by natural rock and forgotten time, was chosen by Captain Marrowtide—formerly Maarten van der Zee—as the final hiding place for his grand fortune. The treasure chest, containing over 5,000 gp in coin and gemstones, symbolizes Marrowtide’s ambition to retire after his “big score” on Elephant Island.

The captain left a map of the cave entrance to guide treasure seekers, showing how to navigate a small boat into the cavern. Once inside, adventurers must contend with remnants of the island’s history and the encroaching influence of the Ravaged Sea Corsairs, who now use the caves as a base.

Rumors swirl about the shifting mountains of Sentinel Island, with whispers of a fifth, faceless bust emerging from the cliffs, suggesting the island may still hold untold secrets. Marrowtide’s treasure, and the dangers that surround it, are both a lure and a warning to those bold enough to seek fortune amidst the ruins of history.
