Known in Phare as "Ty-Pharess" or the "Floating Mountain", this volcanic island rose high above the Shifting Blue, though details of it were scant to the Mortalkind of mainland Somnum. Ships that traveled within 100 miles of the isle were blasted by bolts of radiance, even on days of clear skies, making some think that the island was protected by the divine.
The few that managed to enter Ty-Pharess reported that a religious theocracy lived above the mountain on a floating sky island called Scil-Pharess; those living above held dominion over the residents of the dormant Ty-Jehann volcano below. Only the privileged lived on the city of Scil-Pharess, and most Ty-Pharish lived on the mountain, and were extremely poor, despite the island's abundant fish and natural vegetation.
Residents of Ty-Jehann were instructed to send food and supplies up to Scil-Pharess via a great wind tunnel ascending from the top of the volcano, and were mandated to spend the rest of the day praying. They did this to prevent radiant death from raining down on them, which they believed were vengeance from a legendary Roc nesting on the isle above.
All citizens of Ty-Pharess spoke the language of Phare, whether they resided on the sky island or on the mountain. This dialect stemmed directly from the Scycaen Languages, implying an ancestral link to the Scycaen Imperium that was severed long ago.
