Seaborn, also called water genasi, were a type of Genieborn Mortalkind whose bodies bore the mark of elmental water. Though some appeared very physically similar to other smallfolk, others looked more magical, with skin in shades of deep blue, sea green, pale turquoise, or smooth pearl. Some bore patterns like ripples or swirls upon their skin, or had a faint sheen as though perpetually damp. A seaborn’s hair might flow and shift as if drifting underwater, or carry hues of dark blue, green, or seafoam. Their eyes could shimmer like sunlight on waves or glow faintly in soft blues and greens, and some seaborn carried the cool scent of rain or the sea.
The abilities of the seaborn reflected the elemental power within their bloodline, possessing a darkvision that let them see without light. Resistance to acid damage came naturally to them, along with an instinctive talent for water-related Spellcraft. Many could shape water to their will, create cleansing flows, or summon a sudden jet of force in battle. Their ancestry often traced back to the Marids, the mighty water Genies of the Elemental Realm of Water; some lines drew from lesser water Elementals or other beings steeped in rivers, seas, and rain. This connection gave them an affinity not only for still and flowing waters, but for the shifting and adaptive nature of the element.
The temperament of seaborn was often shaped by their elemental heritage, as they innately understood and spoke Aquan. Many shared the calm, patient, and resilient nature of deep waters, yet could also shift quickly into a state of sudden force and motion like a breaking wave. Some embodied the unpredictable moods of the ocean, alternately gentle and stormy, while others reflected the constant renewal of water, acting as healers, guides, or wanderers. Whether still or turbulent, most seaborn carried a sense of depth and quiet strength in their demeanor; a living reminder of the elemental waters that flowed through their veins.
