Specter

Specters were the angry, unfettered spirits of humanoids prevented from passing to the afterlife. They manifested as Ghostly, translucent figures, often resembling their mortal forms but twisted by death and despair. Their bodies flickered and wavered like smoke, and their eyes glowed with an eerie, otherworldly light. Their hands were often claw-like, reaching out to touch and drain the life from their victims; however, they were weak to sunlight, so could only lurk in the shadows or in the dead of night.

Specters were typically created from the souls of the deceased who had suffered violent deaths, deep anguish, or unresolved grudges. Unlike a ghost, specters could never have their unfinished business completed. Bound by Necromancy or powerful Curses, they wandered graveyards, ancient ruins, and haunted keeps, forever reliving the agony of their demise and seeking revenge on the living.

These malevolent spirits attacked with chilling, life-sapping touches, their incorporeal forms making them difficult to combat using conventional means. Enhanced weapons or Spellcraft that disrupted undead entities were often necessary to destroy their trapped essence.
