An adventuring party called the Pack found Dalvan's corpse and the letter in Curse Of Strahd, but could not carry him, leaving his body to decompose in the woods.
A scout hailing from the Village of Barovia and the childhood friend of Ismark Kolyanovich, Dalvan was one of the few who knew the land outside the village. Intelligent and quick on his feet, he grew up practicing swordplay with the more powerful Ismark, and became one of the few members of the village's paltry militia.
He was eventually tasked by the Burgomaster Kolyan Indirovich to deliver a letter to the eastern Gates of Barovia. Kolyan Indirovich's Letter indicated instructions for incoming adventurers regarding the village's situation, and was intended to be placed prominently at the gate. Sadly, Dalvan was mauled by a Werewolf forest-folk bearing the Mark of Strahd on his journey, and had his body dumped in the Svalich Woods before he could complete his mission.
