Several footpaths led off the Old Svalich Road, just outside the fortified town of Vallaki, into an expansive clearing. A small hill emerged in this clearing, with low houses built into its sides, and a permanent encampment of Vistani wagons at its summit.
The Captain of this camp was Luvash, and had for generations kept an ancient deal with Strahd von Zarovich to watch over the few Elven prisoners of Barovia. The elves lived in permanence at the hill, not allowed to leave the eyes of the Vistani. These elves were headed by Kasimir Velikov and tried to interact as little with the outside world as possible, having suffered a history of mutilations and culling at Strahd's hand.
