In Curse Of Strahd, Gadof Blinsky confessed to the Pack that he was an admirer of von Weerg, and was desperate to see his clockwork man. The Pack agreed to find von Weerg's creation for Blinsky; though they placed it fairly low on their list of priorities, they would later encounter Pidlwick II in the castle.
Born in Vallaki in the Zarovich Valley, Fritz von Weerg was an intelligent child who grew up to become a legendary toymaker. Inflicted with both brilliance and madness, he became most well-known for creating a sentient clockwork Construct that had the intelligence of a humanoid.
At the request of Strahd von Zarovich, Fritz built Pidlwick II, a clockwork effigy of Pidlwick Pilensky intended to bring joy to the lady Tatyana Federovna. However, Pidlwick II had no Adeptic charm, and would ultimately kill the original Pidlwick in a fit of rage.
Remaining at Castle Ravenloft, Fritz would ultimately meet his death within a year of creating his masterpiece, a victim of Strahd's wrath during the Wedding That Never Was.
