Winter Wolf

A winter wolf was a magical creature more akin to a Worg than a typical Wolf, being of wicked intelligence and cunning. They were massive, growing larger than Dire Wolves, and had glistening white or silvery coats of fur and eyes that were either silvery or pale blue. Winter wolves communicated with one another using growls and barks, but they generally spoke Common or Giant well enough to follow simple conversations. Due to their high intelligence for such beastly creatures, they were often employed by greater creatures, such as Frost Giants or Silver Dragons, as guards and guardians.

Favoring cold climates, they could often be found across high mountains and far tundra. Using their fur as camouflage, winter wolves would lay in wait for prey as ambush predators. When an attack was triggered, winter wolves would encircle their prey and take turns to strike, or attempt to pin them. They could breathe gusts of magical cold to freeze their foes and were immune to cold themselves.

Winter wolves typically lived in packs of around three to five. They were well organized, and their leaders were both the strongest and smartest among them. When hunting, they typically traveled against the wind in order to ensure that their prey couldn't smell them.
