Hidden beyond the Caves of Jhirkorro, the Sister Springs lay within an isolated cavern accessible only by passing through a passage dubbed by the Lizardfolk as the "Trail of Scales". The chamber contained three separate Magic Pools, each fed by a deep subterranean spring. Their thermal waters shimmered with flecks of bronze and green as they bubbled to the surface, carrying mineral deposits and the acrid scent of sulfur from the depths below.
According to Draconic legend, the springs marked the resting place of three Bronze Dragon sisters who fled there after ancient Elven Spellcasters laid a terrible Curse upon them. Each dragon was stripped of a different part of what defined her nature. The eldest lost her natural resilience, the second her ability to fly, and the youngest her Draconis Fundamentum. Mortally weakened, they escaped into the caverns and entered three separate springs to spend their final moments in peace.
Rather than dying, the dragons were transformed. The waters drew the bronze from their scales and the heat from their bodies, permanently binding the dragons' essence to the springs and changing them into the first lizardfolk. Before departing, the sisters sealed the route to the cavern behind a series of magical trials that became known as the Trail of Scales. They also wove powerful wards throughout the surrounding caves that disrupted Extraplanar magic and abjured creatures from beyond the Prime Material.
The three pools each carried a different blessing, reflecting the nature of the dragon whose essence lingered within them. Those who completed the Trail of Scales and immersed themselves in one of the springs were said to receive a permanent magical gift. Tradition also warned that no individual could safely receive more than one blessing, and that those who attempted to claim the power of multiple springs risked inheriting the same curse that had once afflicted the three sisters.
