Arcane Well

Arcane wells, sometimes called magic pools, were naturally occurring bodies of water formed near active Leylines and suffused with Positive Energy. The water within them carried unstable arcane charge that interacted directly with living creatures. These wells remained magical only while connected to their source leyline. Once water was removed from the pool, it rapidly lost its arcane properties and became inert within minutes. This made arcane wells difficult to exploit for long-term use, since their effects could not be bottled or transported.

Their locations were often closely guarded or naturally hidden, and many collapsed or shifted over time as leyline flows changed underground. Most Smallfolk exposed to an arcane well experienced accelerated healing and rapid restoration of innate magical reserves. In small doses, this effect was beneficial, though prolonged exposure could cause sensory overload, physical exhaustion, or uncontrolled surges of Wild Magic in those with high sensitivity. Many other types of creatures drank or fed directly from arcane wells, but some had to avoid them outright, finding their water directly harmful.
