20th Vult, 999 YK
- Dax' Athla wakes up early and experiences sleep paralysis, with her demonic passenger sitting on her chest. Once she can move, she sits at a fire to warm up, and Jharl gives her his fur cloak, which he claims was taken from a great boar in the Watching Wood. Jharl explains that the gnolls were created by the Wild Heart and the Rage of War, when the Wild Heart's hyenas ate the Rage of War's demons, creating something new. Infernal corruption is their heritage, but the gnolls fight against it every day. No gods, no masters, only the Pact.
- They wake up and the convoy continues its journey towards the Great Crag.
- Jharl also told Dax about the warlord of the Watching Wood, Zaeurl, who keeps the local fauna in check.
- Dax' Athla meditates in the wagon, and has a conversation with her demon. She finally asks their name, and they introduce themselves as Sulzrirtas, the Frigid Flame. They can feel that something is coming, which they call an "Age of Savagery"
- Early in the afternoon, something agitates the gnolls. Ghyrryn explains that they are approaching Korlaac Pass, a dhakaani bridge, which is a vulnerable situation. The cavalry rode ahead to secure it, with Zedd being an eye in the sky.
- As the convoy crosses the bridge, they begin to hear harpy song. The harpies were hiding under the bridge!
- Dax' Athla, Oargev, Grenn, Beren, Luala and Alyn are all charmed and attempt to yeet themselves from the bridge. Drego stops Luala, Terfel stops Oargev, Toli stops Beren and Nayara attempts to stop Alyn.
- Nyrielle Tam maintains her cover as an aide and just hides in the wagon. Terfel gives her serious side-eye.
- Warden transforms into a Dragonhawk, national mascot of Aundair, and takes the fight to the harpies.
- Kalshana picks a fight with a rhino, stabbing it with a wooden stake. She means well, trying to un-charm it, but it's an animal and she just stabbed it.
- Lozaal Daashor held the line against Oestra Dawngore after she broke past the Talenta and Darguun delegations. It was close, but he won out and downed her.
- Chaos ensues, with many of the guards getting charmed and walking off the bridge. Grenn McFadden fell to his death, as did many of the guards. Thankfully, none of the delegates were killed, so this is apparently acceptable for the Znir Pact.
- The gnolls tend to the dead, each of them eating a part of the fallen enemies, and collecting the myrnaxes of the fallen gnolls.
- Fharg tends to the wounds, using some ointment to heal Lozaal.
- In the aftermath of the ambush, Beren confronts Ghyrryn and demands to know what happened, who the assailants were. Ghyrryn states "you are not concerned."
- Dax approaches Jharl and asks essentially the same question, and if the assailants were corrupted. Jharl doesn't know, and doesn't wish to speculate, but he doesn't think they were corrupted. He states they will know more in the evening, as word has been sent to the Great Crag. Someone will come.
- Dax expresses concern that they are weakened, if another attack comes. Jharl assures her that Someone will come.
- As a wagon was lost, the remaining delegations had to be distributed amongst the remaining wagons. The Valenar delegation is in the Blue wagon, along with Breland, Cyre and Thrane.
