The Neverwinter River is a major river in The Sword Coast North that flows through the city of Neverwinter. Its source is at the base of Mount Hotenow where it runs southwest through Neverwinter Wood. As it reaches the center of the wood it changes course to the southeast and exits, runs across an open plane and through Neverwinter, and empties into the Bay of Mists in the Sea of Swords.
The Neverwinter River remains warm year-round thanks to the heat of Mount Hotenow, providing the area with an abnormally temperate climate and preventing the city of Neverwinter and its harbor from freezing in the winter.
