Pelegon II Pelegon was the 10th Shahanshah.
Unlike his mother, Pelegon was not a martial man and enjoyed the lifestyle of royalty. In his reign, he quickly proved to be a poor administrator and a poor diplomat, angering many of his vassals due to his actions. Pelegon’s father and Grand Vizier, Lord Samwell Sweet, was seen as the power behind his throne and was seen as taking actions which benefitted House Sweet at the expense of the realm. Famine and illness led to economic devastation, which Pelegon mishandled, further shaking his vassals’ and subjects’ trust in him. Most notable was the Mernelian Revolt, which he failed to suppress. At the Battle of the Gates of Strusan, Pelegon was forced to retreat from the field of battle, which was seen as a grave humiliation. This led his brother, Beldoran, to independently raise an army and suppress the revolt.
Shortly after returning from suppressing the Mernelian Revolt, Prince Beldoran Pelegon declared that Sirdas I had told him privately that she wished him to succeed her on the Golden Falcon Throne and rose in rebellion to assert his claim, initiating the Years of Blood and Iron.
He was killed in battle against Beldoran Pelegon seven years into his reign.
