The Battle of the Gates of Strusan was the first major battle of the Mernelian Revolt. Shahanshah Pelegon II marched on the Great Gate with a host of troops from the Imperial Domain, hastily organized to strike against the rebels quickly. However, the unorganized force broke against the disciplined Dwarven lines of the Brotherhood of Mernel and Pelegon II himself infamously fled the field of battle in a humiliating defeat. Following the loss, Pelegon sequestered himself in Arcanopolis and his brother, Prince Beldoran Pelegon, independently raised a host to defeat the rebels.
