Level Tokens

At the end of each month for the first three months that you start playing with us, you earn a level token.  Your timer starts as soon as you join the server (you don’t need to get into a game to begin).  The value of this level token increases each time, as follows:

• First month, Level 8 Token
• Second month, Level 12 Token
• Third month, Level 16 Token

Your token(s) can be spent by posting in the #tracker-updates channel with the following template:
[Discord name, Character, Claiming Level (8, 12 or 16) Token, Class]
Ex. [Jukya, Spark, Claiming Level 12 Token, Sorcerer]

To follow your progress as to when you’re eligible for these Tokens, use the “?whois [DiscordName]” (without quotes, and using your Discord name) command in #bot-testing-and-spam

Tokens can be redeemed to either start a brand new character at the level listed, or they can be applied to an existing character.

• New character: Start at the level of the token
  • Only one Job Crystal starts at the given level, not any extras you may have during Character Creation (which start at level 3 as normal).
  • Include all normal perks like starting gear.
  • Congrats, you’re done!
    

• Existing Character: Two options.
  • Acquire a brand new Job Crystal at the level of the token.*
  • Upgrade an existing Job Crystal to the level of the token.*

Token Upgrade

When you add or upgrade a Job Crystal on an existing character with a level token, you may earn some additional items and gold.  This is proportionate to starting items/gold.

To find your reward, compare your character’s highest level Job Crystal with the level token’s level you’re using in the table below.  Entries with “-” mean there is no reward.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I redeem a level 8 token on more than one character?
A: No.  Each token is used once-per-player.  This means you only get three total tokens to spend among all five character slots.  You can spend all three tokens on the same character if you want, but you’ll only ever get the three, so choose wisely.

Q: Once per player?  Does that mean I start back at level 3 if my character dies or retires?
A: No.  As with normal progression, spending a level token increases the maximum level of that character slot.  This means that if your character dies or retires, you can make a new character in that slot up to the highest level you achieved (including any bonus from a level token you may have spent to get there).

Q: Do I have to spend my level token as soon as I earn it?  Do they ever expire?
A: No and no.  You don’t have to spend your level token at all if you don’t wish to.  They will never expire, so you can take your time before deciding to either upgrade a character or make a new one at a higher level.

Q: What if I’ve already been playing?  Do I have to wait three more months to earn all my tokens?
A: No. If you’ve already been playing with us, you’ll earn your tokens based upon the time spent since earning the Player role.  For many of our existing players who have spent three months with us already, this means you will earn all three tokens immediately.

Q: Can I buy level tokens? Sell them?
A: Haha, no. These are player-level meta items. They are not in-game currency, nor can they be traded.

Q: How do I RP the sudden jump in level and items?
A: As with many story aspects, we leave it up to your imagination.
To get you started with an example, your character could have gone on a harrowing adventure in the Feywild, and the new experience and gold/items are the result of that adventure.  Since time is conveniently wonky in such a plane, this also serves to explain how your character so suddenly progressed.

Q: Will we ever be able to buy level tokens in the Guild Shop or otherwise?
A: No.  We have no plans for such.  These are what you get, so spend them wisely.

Q: Do I have to use my level 12 token to upgrade from where I spent my level 8 token?
A: No.  There are no level requirements for a Job Crystal to use any value of level token to upgrade them.  As implied by the above table, you can upgrade a level 3 Job Crystal straight to 16 if you’d like.
