The Yard Rats were savoring a rare moment of peace, gathered around their makeshift wooden table in their dimly lit lair, enjoying a lunch of smoked meats and bread. *Mariska Vandeleur (Chris) hummed a light tune as * utkacha (Chad) recounted an embellished version of their latest heist, and the room filled with laughter.
Suddenly, a series of deafening explosions rocked the room, sending dust and fragments of stone scattering through the air. Two of their three entrances had been destroyed. Thick, red fog began to pour through the openings, creeping along the ground like a living thing.
"Positions!" *Balik Walraven (Jonathan) barked, rising to his feet, shield raised, eyes sharp. The fog grew thicker, and from its depths emerged the ghastly forms of the undead— surged forward with unholy hunger in their eyes.
Weapons flashed as the Yard Rats sprang into action. *Ubel Ironclaw (Charlotte) charged forward, her blade cleaving through the undead, while *Tailyn Blithe (Jay) unleashed a blast of fire, illuminating the room in flickering orange light. Jorin’s arrows found their marks with deadly precision, and Mariska’s song rang out, infusing her companions with courage.
Amid the fray, a figure cloaked in shadow crept along the edge of the room—Margriete Bruin - Sword Wraith Warrior a wraith of Van Droth, with its eyes set on the ancient artifact hung on the wall, the Sentinel Shield. With uncanny stealth, it reached for the shield, fingers curling around the edge. Balik caught sight of it in the corner of her eye.
"Not so fast!" she shouted, challenging it to a one-on-one battle. But even as she fought the wraith, a commanding presence filled the room. Emerging from the red fog, her crimson cloak billowing like spilled blood, was The Red Flux, a vampire whose very name struck fear throughout Seregon. Her cold, calculating eyes surveyed the room with a sinister smile.
"Fools," she sneered. "Your efforts are but a flickering candle in the darkness."
The undead rallied, forming a near-impenetrable wave between the Yard Rats and The Red Flux. With a malevolent laugh, she raised her hands, dark energy crackling at her fingertips.
In a moment of desperation, Princess Litsëa raised her lute and called out with all her might, invoking the ancient bardic song of summoning. Across the city, bards heard her call, and like a tide rising to answer, music filled the streets.
Suddenly, a powerful harmony resonated through the lair, filling the undead with dread. One by one, the creatures fell, their twisted forms crumbling under the combined might of the bards’ song. Seeing her forces dwindling, The Red Flux hissed, eyes flashing with fury. Her plan thwarted, she vanished into the red mist, retreating with a final glare that promised vengeance.
The Yard Rats stood victorious, their breaths heavy but their spirits unbroken, as the echoes of the bardic melody faded into silence.
