Vanishing Grove

The Vanishing Grove was an area of planar importance located at the northern edge of the Sea of Trees. The exact size of the Vanishing Grove was unknown; some druids speculated that it shifted and changed in size in accordance with nature, extending anywhere from a small grove of trees to a massive wood that stretched hundreds of miles. Its size and location were charted by the rangers of the Astralwood Enclave, as its borders marked a direct threat to the people of the Astralwood.

The hallmark of the Vanishing Grove was the lingering mist that haunted its areas, obscuring visibility and providing an unnatural chill. This mist was especially prevalent at night, and the area seemed to be permanently in Longgloom, both in temperature and temperament. Most smallfolk did not dare approach the Grove, including those native to the Sea of Trees, as it was known as one of the most dangerous places within the Sea.

The area had a reputation for disappearances; it was thought to house many Fey Crossroads, and the lines between the woods and other planes were extremely thin. It was not uncommon for creatures of echoing planes to get caught in the Grove, and come to the Prime Material from the Plane of Shadow, the Deepmists, or the Ethereal Border. Similarly, Material travelers could find themselves transported from their home plane as the mists closed in, and would usually never be seen again.
