Viktor's experiments were not completed, however, before the house met its final end in Curse Of Strahd. During the Riots of the Blazing Sun, Ghalwin Forrester made it to the mansion before the mob and pilfered the mirror, wedding dress, and much of the jewelry before a mob of angry villagers burned it down. Along with its destruction, many of the books still remaining in Barovia burned along with it.
The Vallaki Burgomaster's Mansion was founded by Baron Vyacheslav Vallakovich once he consolidated enough power to become the Burgomaster of Vallaki, and became the hereditary home of the Vallakovich family. A mansion covered in walls of plastered stone with drapes covering every window, it was the central fixture and most opulent home in the town, featuring multiple dens, parlors, and secret rooms, as well as a library that contained more information than nearly any other place in Barovia. Many fancy parties here were hosted by the Baroness Lydia Petrovna, and the Baroness also kept the finest clothing in Vallaki in this place, including her wedding dress and much expensive jewelry.
In her perfume room, Lydia kept a mirror containing the ghost of Tasha Petrovna, unknown to all of the village's residents, including herself. Upstairs, in an alcove beyond the storage rooms, Viktor Vallakovich used a layout from a wizard's Spellbook to create a Teleportation Circle, hidden under a rug. He planned to use this circle to escape Barovia, sending servants into the circle to be ripped apart.
