In Forge Of Fury, Kaarghaz heard the sounds of combat in his warren. He went to protect his people, and was slaughtered before he could respond by Morgran Frostbeard-Axethrower. Morgran charmed his giant lizard with a Potion of Animal Friendship, named her Lily, and left his body to be eaten by the troglodyte hatchlings.
The chieftain of a group of Troglodytes native to the marshes in the Forest of Stone Tooth, Kaarghaz was a genetic marvel of his species. Massive in size and blessed with innate sorcerous abilities, he formed a small army of troglodyte warriors under his banner. He captured a Giant Lizard to ride, and eventually tamed her as hid steed. Eventually, this group found the ancient Orc tunnels that lead into Khundrukar, and fought back the orcs to claim the Glitterhame and the mid levels of the mountain.
Inside Stone Tooth, he established a breeding warren and posted guards around the caverns, maintaining an uneasy alliance with the Ogre Ulfa and her orcs above. However, the greatest danger Kaarghaz found was not in the threats above, but below. A young Black Dragon had taken residence in the Black Lake below the Glitterhame, and could reach the troglodyte warrens via an underground river. As such, he and his people began to worship the dragon, who he gave the draconic nickname "Nightscale", continually sending treasure and food down-river in exchange for their lives.
