Rauva Olonrae had been born in bondage within the Dark Dwarf bastion of Thuldûmkarak. Her people, a small Dark Elf group of prisoners, had been held there for generations, condemned to slavery as penance for the crimes of a distant ancestor. The rare birth of an elven child in the camps was unprecedent, and Rauva’s arrival was taken as an omen that their punishment would one day end. A natural Mage, she nonetheless grew to adulthood in chains, being taught by other females and learning endurance and caution under her near-constant watch.
Though over a hundred years late, the prisoner's omen would eventually prove true. A band of dark elves, posing as merchants, raided Thuldûmkarak and broke the captives out, forcing a desperate flight from the Middledark. Lacking the strength or allies to reach a dark elf bastion before their pursuers inevitably closed in, the fugitives chose a more dangerous path and fled upward into the surface world. Traveling east from Scyseti's Cut, they hid in caves and old tunnels by day, and struck Common League villages by night for supplies. During this time, Rauva honed her Spellcraft and emerged as one of the group’s leaders, directing raids and holding the survivors together through fear and discipline.
Their eastward rampage ended before they reached the Isilet Ranges, as they were hunted by the Riders of Khazalet. The Horse-warriors cut the group down in open ground, killing most of the escaped drow slaves. Rauva survived, but was the only one captured alive, and was handed over to the Council of Commonlight to answer for the raids committed during the journey. She was transported far from the frontier and sentenced to life imprisonment at Bleak End; there, she became "Prisoner 76", and another age of her life was wasted in a cell.
