Session 066

August 19, 2024

Previous: Session 065; Next: Session 067

Start: 3rd of Tamtir 1113 GE, evening. Bill's Bimbos were gathered in the common area of the Innvisible Igloo with Killian Sweeney, Tar Runo, Stanley Lumi, and Ormund Vanstein. Ormund Vanstein was briefing the party on his research interests on the Isles of Reus to aid Leminy Gilcog.

Discussing their options, the Bill's Bimbos decided to join Ormund Vanstein on his expedition to the Isles of Reus. They slept for the evening, deciding to meet up early the next morning. On the morning of the 4th of Tamtir, the gang suited up, bought some last minute supplies from Frosty Findings, and headed out. Through the south gate, down the narrow switch-back road to the small dock in the ship-wide inlet, the troupe piled onto the Tidebreaking Covenent helmed by Officer Berdhold Uronaar. The team spent the following 4 days on the ship, with the patrols of the Knights Duvonte before the Isles of Reus came into sight.

On the evening of the 8th of Tamtir, Rohtagels used the Conch Shell Of The Abyssal Pontoon and the team quietly sailed int0 shore under the cover of darkness, avoiding the very lax security of the hill giants of the eastern island. Moving north, they passed by a small settlement with a fire roaring. Approaching the northwestern beach, a figure emerged from the trees, and Qafiali met Bill's Bimbos once again. He greeted the group warmly, introducing himself to the new members. The group questioned him, as he claimed to arrive here with them by sheer coincidence, and he had taken up the title of "God-man" amongst the Hill Giants here. He explained that their leader, Lodd, had left earlier that day on a "vision quest", leaving the disorganized Hill Giants twisting in the wind and desperate for direction. Invited to the dinner circle, Bill's Bimbos found the drunk and sloppy Hill Giant tribe non-violent enough to sleep amongst them (within Nesdin's tiny hut) for the evening.

On the morning of the 9th of Tamtir, Calliope and Nesdin introduced themselves to the sobering Hill Giants. Calliope took charge and captured their attention and imagination quite quickly, receiving the title "God-friend" and gathering dozens of Hill Giants within mere moments. He spurred the tribe up into an uproar after claiming their leader Lodd was captured by the Frost Giants in the northern island. The quickly gathered up, a dozen became 30 became 70 as the Hill Giant mob charged north, crossed the watery border, and stormed the southeastern beach of the Frost Giants' island.

A warhorn sounded from the Frost Giant settlement, and combat ensued: Rohtagels leading the Hill Giant vanguard, Arwa Hathspelt alongside the pack, Nesdin picking up the rear, and Crax Goobadink, 2 Hill Giants, and Nimbus carrying Calliope and Ormund Vanstein flew up towards the 100 foot tall defensive ice wall. Fireballs were sent, ice javelins responded in kind, and volleys of massive arrows peppered the storming Hill Giant horde. The party taking some serious hits and seeing the staggering power differential of the Frost Giants and the Hill Giants, the party left their crusaders to their invasion, climbing the ice wall while Bill's Bimbos flew off and hid amongst the eastern cliffs.

Moving north, and avoiding any and all patrols or sightings with the conflict started at the southern Frost Giant settlement, the group came to a frozen lake near the northern tip of the island. Calliope parlayed with another group of Frost Giants who were present: Hrumvir the lead shaman with the ice staff, Bergal the druid cloaked in frozen leaves, Hrung in the stitched pelt garb, and his son Larf. Larf greeted the gang as Hrung oversaw. Bergal disappeared into the nearby treeline, and the party then spoke with Hrumvir. She warned Bill's Bimbos about the dangers of the Depths of the Primordials, its entrance near the bottom of the adjacent frozen lake and the unpredictability of some magic near convergences of elemental power within. She also told them of Lodd, who had assaulted Hrung and Bergal before diving into the lake. Emerging later, he kicked Larf in the head before running into the woods to the southwest (towards the Stone Giants island).

Bill's Bimbos re-broke the surface of the lake where Lodd had busted in, swam down, and gotten sucked down and through the bottom of the lake. Spit out into the Depths of the Primordials, the gang oriented themselves and began to sink downward. On the way, they encountered an Ikuchi, which they handily killed. Sinking further with its long serpentine body, a massive tentacle whipped out from the abyss below and snatched the gargantuan snake's body away. Around now, they spotted a faint bluish light far below them. Approaching, Bill's Bimbos and Ormund Vanstein saw it was an unimaginably massive, vaguely humanoid form curled in the fetal position, with some sort of glowing blue aura emanating through its body from its center (ribcage-chest). Also spotted, writhing about the surface of this curled up form was an nuderwater monstrosity - a living titan of the Depths of the Primordials, a kraken.

End: 9th of Tamtir, midday. Bill's Bimbos and Ormund Vanstein were within the Depths of the Primordials from the portal beneath the frozen lake in the northern island of the Isles of Reus, sinking downward toward the curled-up body of a dead Primordial whose body had become the lair of a kraken.
