Arcane Asobrian Adventurers

The Arcane Asobrian Adventurers, or Triple A for short, is a world-renowned adventuring party that has done work throughout the many lands of Asobria. The group has seen a variety of members join and leave throughout its short history, although it is still mainly recognized by its main seven members. These seven are currently on a world-spanning quest in search of the Dragon Aspects of legend, which is a journey that has pitted them against Sir Nero von Strahd and many other powerful foes. While they may carry the fate of Asobria in their hands, they still strive to make the world a better place than they found it.

Formation and First Quests

The Arcane Asobrian Adventurers first came together on the 17th of Solvial, 1512 CE, with the original five members of the group consisting of Cayne Garrison, Illisium Reledictus, Joser Cinderbluff, Froppy, and Zosz Cham'qui. These five met each other by chance in Kemitsu Lons, the capital of Towerfirth in the Holy Empire of Acolytius, when they defended the city from an attack by the Crimson Cruor. They were promptly hired by Queen Ayako Watanito of Towerfirth to properly stop the cult, spending the next month searching for the cult's leader Vorcanth. It was during this search that they encountered Kozue: A follower of the Old Faith who sought to stop the Cruor's practice of sacrificing local wildlife. The Druid joined the group as their search took them to the town of Kakaku Bend, where the cult had based themselves in an abandoned temple outside of the town. Inside the temple, the adventuring party emerged victorious from a dangerous battle against Vorcanth, killing the cult leader and stopping the Cruor's bloodshed.

Along the way back to Kemitsu Lons, the group set up camp within Dryaedurae's Labyrinth for the night. During the night, group member Froppy was led into the forest by a Bonedevil he rescued from the Cruor's base. The creature took him to a hidden grove inhabited by Dryaedurae herself, bestowing upon the Axolyte her Dragon Aspect and tasking him with finding the other Divine Dragons. Not knowing what the artifact was at the time, Froppy and the rest of the group chose to continue working with one another to search for the rest of the Dragons and discover what the stone's significance was. Zosz, however, had to leave the group to return to his homeland of Q'Farrun. The remaining five members continued onward from Towerfirth and traveled throughout other regions of the Empire.

Journey through the Empire

After leaving Towerfirth, the group spent some time traveling throughout the Province of Palprofundia, with a majority of this time being spent taking on odd jobs and simply exploring the world around them. During their time in the Province, Cayne reunited with Armanus Garrison: An old friend of hers who would later join the group and become Cayne's husband. For now, however, he would remain unaffiliated with the group. While in Palprofundia, the group also visited Biffany's School of the Arcane in Fallowburn, with Joser's status as a school alumni granting them access to the college's library. Here, they learned that Froppy's stone was one of the Dragon Aspects, as well as the power that it and the other Aspects held. The school's library lacked any information on where the rest of the Divine Dragons could be found, however. They continued onward out of Palprofundia and into Minaltum, continuing their search for information and helpful acts along the way. In Minaltum, the group also met Skuldr Thorason: An Ursinefolk traveling throughout Asobria in search of ingredients for his cooking. Skuldr joined the group for some of their quests before choosing to assist in their search for the Dragon Aspects and becoming a full member of Triple A.

Triple A's biggest undertaking in Minaltum was their quest to stop a surge of undead in the Province, which pit them against a lich known as Thrulseth. This journey saw the group fighting against groups of reanimated skeletons and Thrulseth's followers, eventually culminating in a battle with the lich and his constructed body in the ruined city of Bor-Hiomriach. Thrulseth was defeated, which put a stop to the problems in Minaltum. Shortly after the completion of this quest, the six adventurers received a letter from the late Emperor Hadrius IV inviting them to the Imperial Palace in the nation's capital of Vatepor. The group immediately accepted this invitation, leaving Minaltum and traveling through Tersodia until arriving at the biggest city in the world.

Political Involvement and Official Recognition

Upon arriving in Vatepor, the Arcane Asobrian Adventurers met with Emperor Hadrius IV and were tasked with investigating the members of the Imperial High Council. With the election to determine the nation's next ruler scheduled to take place in mere days, the late Emperor suspected that there may be issues with corruption and foul play to try and sway the people's votes one way or the other. The group had a few days to conduct their search, with their deadline being a banquet that was to be held in their honor. Triple A agreed to this task, remaining in the city to find any potential evidence they could. As they also were granted nearly full access to the Imperial Palace, the group also searched for more information regarding the Dragon Aspects. This put the group into contact with High Archmage Alistair Seraphus, who quickly became a close ally and would later join the group.

Triple A's political investigations led to them having many interactions with Alarin Lucius and Belivere Valeria, who were the Grand Steward and Grand Marshal at the time. These investigations soon unearthed that Grand Steward Alarin was framing Grand Marshal Belivere and was responsible for many of the issues that had been plaguing the Empire at the time. Through bribery and forged orders, Alarin was preventing the guards of Towerfirth and Minaltum from searching for and eliminating both the Crimson Cruor and Thrulseth. The crimes of these groups in turn slandered Grand Marshal Belivere's reputation, making it seem as if she was insufficient for her duties or involved with these evils. Alarin's strategy was so successful, in fact, that he was even able to frame Belivere for attempted murder at Triple A's banquet by bribing a guard to attack Kozue, with the guard claiming it was under Belivere's orders. Ultimately, his goal was to guarantee his victory in the election and his rise to power, but Triple A's investigations later led to his downfall.

After his crimes were discovered, Alarin fled to the Cathedral of the High Gods to make a desperate bargain with Demons of Ceiveta. When the Arcane Asobrian Adventurers interrupted his meeting to arrest him, Alarin was devoured by one of the Demons and killed. Triple A then fought in a deadly battle against the Demons, emerging victorious after suffering heavy injury. For their efforts, however, Emperor Hadrius deemed them heroes of the Empire. It was with this recognition that the group was officially named, with the moniker of the Arcane Asobrian Adventurers being determined by the members of the group.

Additional Business in Vatepor and the Empire

During their venture within Vatepor, the Arcane Asobrian Adventurers saw other major events such as the addition of new members. One of these members was Tenzin Kanade, a Brandkin tattoo artist who lived and worked in Beggar's Bazaar. After providing their services to some members of Triple A, they grew close with Froppy and became romantic partners with the Axolyte. Since then, Tenzin has accompanied the group to provide Magical Tattoos if needed, although they mainly have stuck around to stay with Froppy. In addition, High Archmage Alistair Seraphus joined the group soon after Alarin's crimes were dealt with. Alistair possessed knowledge on the Dragon Aspects in his personal library at the College of the Arcane, sharing it with Triple A and providing some counsel regarding where they were to journey next. He additionally took Joser under his wing as an apprentice, teaching him Artificing to help him get used to his then new prosthetic arm. Alistair's existing apprentice, Pavel Kirsten, also accompanied Triple A from this moment forward. A skilled alchemist, Pavel actually attended Biffany's School of the Arcane alongside Joser, although the two disliked each other greatly.

Armanus Garrison also joined Triple A around this time, however the circumstances were very grim. Cayne had discovered that Armanus was involved in the disappearance of Sarti Garris: Cayne's younger sister who had vanished some time before Triple A first met in Kemitsu Lons. This discovery fractured their relationship, with the two avoiding contact with one another for some time. Before the group left Vatepor, however, Armanus wrote to Cayne with the news that he had found where Sarti was, which was the Cavnos Islands. Triple A met him there, and searching through the caves led to the discovery of a secret dungeon. Within this dungeon, there were scrolls, books, and other documents referencing the Dragon Aspects. Sarti apparently possessed a fragment of an artifact that had ties to the Aspects (one that Joser coincidentally also possessed a fragment to), and the perpetrator behind her kidnapping wanted this fragment and any information she may have had as well. Armanus was the one sent to do the work for them, and Sarti was then brought to this dungeon in secret. Triple A soon found her within a torture chamber, with Sarti being in a horrendous state from extensive beatings. Armanus and Cayne were there to comfort her in her final moments, as she died shortly after her discovery.

The man responsible for Sarti's kidnapping would later become Triple A's greatest enemy, being a man known as Sir Nero von Strahd. Nero was an esteemed knight, being close friends of the Garris family and the mentor to Armanus. As his mentor, Nero forced Armanus to kidnap Sarti by threatening his future knighthood and the safety of the rest of the Garris family. Through their search on the Cavnos Islands, Triple A discovered that Nero was also searching for the Dragon Aspects and that he was potentially a Vampire. While Nero was previously at the banquet held some days prior, the group would not yet be able to find him and enact justice for Sarti's death. For now, the group brought Sarti back to her family and attended her funeral. It was at this funeral that Armanus chose to join Triple A, his goal being to try and atone for his actions.

With their newfound allies, Triple A made plans to travel north into the Kingdom of Kalvete to search for the next Aspect. Prior to their departure, however, the group spent some time resting and recovering from the tribulations of their past journey. This granted them an opportunity to attend the induction ceremony of Belivere Valeria, who was elected as Empress and succeeded the late Hadrius IV during their time in Vatepor.

Arrival and First Quests in Kalvete

When initially traveling to Kalvete, the newly appointed Empress Belivere entrusted Triple A with checking on Sovereign Marcelius Arnault and the Province of Norderia. At the time, tensions between the Kingdom and Empire had led to conflicts along the border. Upon arriving in Smithskeep, Marcelius informed Triple A that the town of Nordreach was at high risk. The group chose to help the Sovereign by checking in on the town, even going out of their way to help defend other settlements from raids. Upon arriving in Nordreach, however, Triple A found the entire village destroyed with its populace dead. Discovering this destruction was caused by raiders, they followed the tracks of the culprits out of Norderia and into the Kingdom of Kalvete itself, eventually finding that the raiders had already been raided themselves. In the ruins of the camp was Sedna Nanuksdottir: An Ursinefolk ranger who was actually Skuldr's half-sister. She chose to join Triple A during their journey in Kalvete, claiming to serve as a local guide in an unfamiliar land. With her among their ranks, the group chose to continue into Kalvete.

Triple A eventually made their way to Kalvete's capital of Iskholde, having to defend the city's rangeland from an Ogre. As the battle was concluding, King Kepjur Ragnison himself appeared with his guards to finish the battle and apprehend the group due to their foreign status. He brought them to his throne room, where he spoke with the party extensively. It was decided that Triple A was to help King Kepjur's people throughout Kalvete, earning his trust in doing so. Once his trust was earned, he would be willing to talk with Triple A and Empress Belivere of the Empire on the topic of Norderia and the Empire's recent conquering of his land. Triple A agreed to these terms, and they set out on the beginning of an extensive journey across Kalvete.

Their earliest quests in the Kingdom initially took Triple A to the Outlands, where there were reports of a dangerous sea beast in the waters of the Sjóhval Sea. Along their journey, Triple A continued to assist the people of Kalvete they encountered, including their efforts in dismantling an animal trafficking ring. The group eventually arrived in the town of Skutlahöf, boarding a ship and slaying the Barjódreki responsible for the local reports. Once this quest was complete, Triple A returned to Iskholde for their next task of escorting a relief transport to the city of Hjarvat. Due to the Empire conquering Kalvete's southern regions, a significant portion of the Kingdom's population had been displaced. Some of these refugees fled to Hjarvat, and the relief transport was to provide food and water to them. While the transport was expected to be delivered without issue, Triple A instead had to fend off members of the Sulijaq: A separatist group within the Kingdom that was led by Skuldr and Sedna's father Nanook Tuqsun. Nanook was present at this attempted raid, but he and other Sulijaq members were successfully repelled by Triple A. The relief transport managed to reach Hjarvat with no losses, and Triple A even volunteered to help distribute its contents to the locals. This greatly assisted their reputation in the area, which aided them in the trials to come.

Internal Tensions and New Foes

During their venture in Kalvete, Triple A's members were finding their trust in one another to falter due to a handful of factors. Chief among them was Armanus Garrison's presence, as his role in Sarti's death led to some members refusing to trust him. Cayne was the prime example of this, as her distrust of Armanus and her grieving had taken a heavy toll on her behavior. This caused even more issues within the group, with Cayne exhibiting suspicious behaviors throughout Kalvete. This tension came to a head at the Titan's Throne, where the group had slain a Gravel Belly that was causing problems for nearby settlements. Here, it was discovered that Cayne had struck a pact with darker forces and become a Warlock: A change that took place when she renounced her faith after Sarti's funeral. The other members of Triple A were greatly concerned for her, as she clearly wasn't herself. Approaching the subject only worsened the tensions within Triple A, the consequences of which were to come later.

Triple A soon continued onwards from the Highlands, having been told by King Kepjur that the next Dragon Aspect may await at the summit of Mount Fjallzen. If they wished to scale the towering mountain peak, they should travel to the Great Monastery and ask the monks there for help. While this served as Triple A's main goal, the group continued to explore more of the Kingdom along their route. It wasn't long until they found more signs of the animal trafficking ring from before, this time with more sinister implications. Whoever was responsible for this trafficking was also involved in Kozue's past, having murdered their mentor Yujin Fukuro. The identity of this person was still a mystery to Triple A at the time. Continuing onward, Triple A found themselves traveling through the Northern Rift into Nordisk, where they encountered one of their most dangerous adversaries yet.

Throughout their journey in Kalvete, Triple A had heard stories of Grith Bludvist: A previous ruler in Kalvete who was said to wander the lands as an undead known as the Black Jarl. These stories were initially believed to be nothing more than a local legend, but Triple A eventually encountered him at a small encampment within the Rift. Bludvist was aware of Triple A's search for the Dragon Aspects, as he had allied himself with Sir Nero von Strahd and was working directly against their own search. A battle against the Black Jarl soon followed, with Bludvist escaping on the back of a Frostheart Dragon. Triple A followed him into Nordisk, as the Frostheart Dragon was the source of an unnaturally dangerous blizzard plaguing the region. The group eventually cornered the Dragon in its lair, discovering that it was only obeying Bludvist due to an enchanted harness. Triple A broke this harness and spared the creature, with its freedom ending the unnatural weather in Nordisk. The Black Jarl, however, was nowhere to be seen.

Despite their success against the Frostheart Dragon, Triple A had only more problems arise. Firstly, Cayne's patron had forced her to begin summoning a Demon under the cover of night. The group had returned too late, as the entire village of Winterfall was destroyed and its people were killed. Vengeance was enacted when the Demon was slain, but the group's trust was fractured. Despite the remorse she now felt for her actions, a close eye was kept on Cayne. Triple A then left Nordisk and began journeying back to the rest of Kalvete, but yet another betrayal awaited them. The group was ambushed by members of the Sulijaq within the Northern Rift, with Nanook leading them yet again. Nanook sought revenge against Triple A for repelling their raid previously, but he primarily wished for Skuldr to join the separatist group. Upon his refusal, Sedna turned against her own half-brother and revealed her alliance to their father. A battle soon followed, with Triple A successfully defeating the Sulijaq's raiders. Nanook and Sedna, however, escaped into the surrounding mountains. Having been betrayed by one of their own, Triple A's morale was at its lowest as they continued into the northernmost reaches of Kalvete.

Brundal and the Aspect of Ice

Upon their return from Nordisk, Triple A made their way northward into the Hold of Brundal. While they found themselves continuing to help locals along their journey, their main destination was the city of Sanctuary. Just outside the city was the Great Monastery: The home of the Brotherhood of the Open Paw and those who could help them ascend Mount Fjallzen. Furthermore, their arrival in Sanctuary informed them of another local problem. Within the Great Monastery, the Brotherhood was holding an individual as a prisoner. The people of Sanctuary believed that this individual's potential escape could cause them danger, as the Monastery's last prisoner was none other than the Black Jarl Grith Bludvist. With tensions in the city rising, Triple A chose to investigate to resolve the issues. They arrived at the front gates of the Monastery, surprisingly being met with a warm welcome.

Waiting for them at the entrance was Gonjye Zhe: One of the Brotherhood's eldest masters. Gonjye had foreseen Triple A's arrival during his meditations, knowing what it was that they sought. He led them inside, starting with their questions on the Brotherhood's prisoner and taking them to the Monastery's prison cell. The prisoner was an Umbrauri by the name of Nurei, who had initially come to the monastery just over 50 years ago. A diligent student, Nurei trained under Gonjye's guidance before revealing a dark secret: Nurei was a Vampire who had been struggling to control his urges. While Gonjye wished to help Nurei potentially cleanse himself of his Vampirism, he did not yet know how this could be done. To ensure the safety of the Monastery, Gonjye had the Umbran placed into a coma through acupuncture and chained him in a cavern beneath the Monastery. Nurei had been in this coma for 50 years now, and Gonjye still did not know how to help him.

After telling Triple A Nurei's story, Gonjye brought them to the archives elsewhere in the Monastery. Here, he provided the group with an invaluable item: The final fragment of the artifact that Joser and Sarti Garris possessed the other pieces of. Furthermore, he explained that a member of the Brotherhood could guide them to the peak of Mount Fjallzen. Despite the immense help he had provided, however, Triple A quickly had to break the trust he had in them. Once they had finished meeting with him, they snuck back to the cavern beneath the Monastery. Believing that the circumstances of his imprisonment were unjust, Triple A chose to break Nurei free from his cell. In his reawakened panic, Nurei fled from the group and eventually into the archives where Gonjye was. As the old master began to tell his former pupil what had happened during his coma, the Monastery fell under siege.

The Black Jarl and Sir Nero von Strahd both had infiltrated the Monastery, making their way to the archives to obtain the artifact Triple A now possessed. The subsequent battle caused great destruction to the archives and further worsened Triple A's morale. During the battle, it was discovered that Nero was responsible for the animal trafficking ring and had murdered Yujin, Kozue's old mentor. Furthermore, Gonjye was brutally murdered by the Black Jarl. Despite this, Triple A emerged victorious, with Nero escaping and the Black Jarl being defeated. After taking some time to bury the dead and repair some destruction, Triple A continued their journey with Nurei as their newest member. Their sights were set on Mount Fjallzen and the Dragon Aspect at its summit.

Upon arriving at the base of the mountain, the group met with their guide and made the arduous ascent to the peak. At the summit of Mount Fjallzen was an expanse of frozen caves, deep within which was what they were looking for. Frizarct, the Divine Dragon of Ice, lay injured in the heart of the mountain peak. Standing next to the Dragon was a towering figure obscured by a cloak. This figure revealed that they had no interest in the Aspect and instead was here simply to settle a grudge and make Triple A's quest more difficult. The figure then revealed his identity: Emraeb, the God of Wrath and the patron of Cayne Garrison. As Cayne had recently been refusing his commands after the events at Winterfall, he decided that she required a fitting punishment. He painfully transformed her from an Imperial to a Brandkin, with her new appearance serving as a constant reminder of her sins. The sinister God disappeared into the shadows, and Triple A's next challenge appeared before they could even recover.

Emerging into the cave were the Sulijaq, led by none other than Nanook and Sedna. Learning of the Aspect's power, Nanook sought to take it for himself to benefit the Sulijaq's separatist efforts. Triple A quickly engaged in a fierce battle against the Sulijaq, and they soon began to emerge victorious. Once he realized that victory was unattainable, Nanook abandoned his own daughter and fled to Björju Island. Sedna, now realizing her father's manipulations, was given a second chance by Skuldr and later found herself as a member of Triple A. With the battle complete, Frizarct had regained enough strength to bestow his Aspect to the party member of his choice: Illisium Reledictus. With the second Dragon Aspect in their possession, Triple A set out to finish their business within Kalvete.

Final Quests and International Negotiations

With the second Dragon Aspect claimed, a certain member of the Arcane Asobrian Adventurers had unfinished business to handle in Kalvete. Still seeking vengeance against his father, Skuldr led the group to Björju Island for a final confrontation with Nanook. Nanook was waiting for Skuldr near his childhood home, the same place where he murdered Skuldr's mother Thora Toklosdottir. After one final attempt to convince his son to join his separatist efforts, Nanook and Skuldr faced one another in one last duel. With the help of his mother's spirit, Skuldr emerged victorious and Nanook was laid to rest. This also, inadvertently, marked the Sulijaq's end and contributed to a future peace within Kalvete.

Triple A returned to the mainland shortly after Skuldr's duel, with an important message waiting for them. King Kepjur summoned them back to Iskholde, as he had received an important letter from Empress Belivere Valeria. Apparently, she had written to him to invite herself to his Kingdom, with the intent of discussing the disputes at their nations' border. Shortly after being told this, however, Triple A was sent another letter from Empress Belivere. Her letter claimed that King Kepjur invited her to Iskholde for border negotiations, and that she was already on the way to Kalvete. Both the Empress and the King wanted Triple A to serve as mediators for this meeting, but the adventuring party realized that something was suspicious with these conflicting stories. Wanting to ensure there weren't outside forces interfering with relations between the Empire and the Kingdom, Triple A chose to investigate Kepjur's stronghold of Mikilvíg.

The group searched through countless rooms and official documents within Mikilvíg, and they even found some unexpected evidence through the Kingdom's young princess Freya Kepsdottir. This evidence led Triple A to believe that Blekkjan Friedeson, one of the King's advisors, had orchestrated this meeting and was potentially a Vampire with ties to Nero. To foil these plans, Triple A split into two groups: Some would attend the negotiations to reveal Blekkjan's meddling while the others would keep a lookout on Freya and the stronghold, as they were also suspicious that the princess could be in danger. These suspicions were correct, as those guarding her were able to prevent a planned kidnapping. Furthermore, those in the meeting exposed Blekkjan's manipulations and eased tensions between the two nations. Before being imprisoned for his plotting, however, Blekkjan delivered an unexpected letter to Triple A: An invitation to SIr Nero's home on Tualean Island.

Tualean Island and Nero's Dream

The Arcane Asobrian Adventurers quickly made their way westward, leaving Iskholde and passing through most of the Hold of Bruttstrond. Upon reaching the shores of the Iron Strait, they found a boat and a ferryman waiting for them. Once they had boarded, they were taken across the strait to Tualean Island. Instead of finding an uninhabited pile of rock as they expected, Tualean instead harbored an entire society of Vampires, of which Nurei was originally born into. Ascending the island, Triple A approached a towering castle and were graciously welcomed inside. Alongside Sir Nero himself, a heavily armored assistant of his, who went by the name of the Owl, was also present. During their visit, Triple A was provided lavish quarters to stay in and were assured that there would be no violence until after they had departed. That evening, the entire group attended an elaborate dinner, with Nero taking the opportunity to explain everything: His motives behind his actions and his ultimate goal.

Sir Nero's main goal was to eliminate free will from all of Asobria. As he was born before even the Cataclysm, he had been a witness to countless evils caused by mortals across the centuries. He wished to fully eradicate this evil from the world, but evil would always exist if people had the ability to choose it. Through the combined power of all eight Dragon Aspects, however, Nero could alter the very universe to eliminate free will from all mortals and create, in his perspective, an ideal world. Furthermore, this power would allow him to overthrow the Gods to prevent them from interfering with his plans. Once his dream was achieved, Nero would strip himself of his own free will and his Vampirism, destroying the Dragon Aspects to live out his final years in peace. After his passing, the world would continue to progress peacefully, and his dream would have been achieved.

Nero continued by explaining that, ideally, no bloodshed would occur. The Vampire actually held Triple A in very high regard, believing that they were simply working towards a different, less permanent solution for the same issue. As for Sarti Garris, he never intended for her to die and never even harmed her, and he had full intentions of releasing her once he knew that she didn't have the information he needed. In his absence, however, the individual he tasked with guarding her cell chose to torture her for their own pleasure. He regretted not returning to the Cavnos Islands sooner, as doing so would have allowed for her survival. Despite his regrets for such an oversight, he remained steadfast in his goals and fully intended to realize his dream. When he finished explaining, he asked Triple A to willingly hand over the two Aspects they possessed, hoping to have convinced them of his motives.

The Arcane Asobrian Adventurers staunchly refused his request, believing his perspective to be a product of his difficult past. Triple A argued that eliminating free will would prevent people from truly living, as the freedom of choice makes people truly human. The opposing stances caused the discussion to become quite heated, and everyone present left the dinner with a bitter taste in their mouth. Despite this, Nero upheld the truce for the remainder of Triple A's stay. The following morning, he allowed them to teleport back to Iskholde via a Magic spell, reiterating the respect he had for the group regardless of how violent their next meeting may become. Sir Nero was, however, an insurmountable obstacle in Triple A's path, especially at the time. As the adventuring party returned back to the Empire to determine their next objective, they began to understand the heavy implications of their quest and the consequences of their potential failure. The odds seemed stacked against them now, but their determination to succeed was only strengthened.

Return to the Empire and the Underlands

When the Arcane Asobrian Adventurers left Kalvete and returned to the Empire, they had a brief stay in the city of Fallowburn in Palprofundia. It was here that they encountered Caspian Alkell: An old friend of Joser's who also attended Biffany's School of the Arcane. Joser and Caspian were both members of the Shadow Wizard Money Gang, which was a student organization Caspian actually founded. While visiting his home that evening, Joser discovered that Caspian was researching the Illithid species and their ceremorphic life cycle. To conduct his experiments, however, he was kidnapping individuals of 'lesser races' and forcing them to undergo ceremorphosis. The Illithid larvae Caspian was using had also been modified through Magic, with his goal being to create what he viewed as an ideal species. While Joser was witnessing these horrors firsthand, the rest of Triple A were investigating the disappearance of a local Janiib who was later discovered to be a victim of Caspian's. When all of Triple A reunited and shared what they had learned, they chose to find and stop Caspian's experiments.

Caspian was conducting his experiments in a cave system below his home, one that descended fully into the Underlands. Triple A followed him down into the subterranean world, eventually cornering him in an abandoned temple. Their exploration of these ruins had them battle many of Caspian's failed experiments and sabotage many of his plans, culminating in a battle against Caspian in the temple's sanctum. Despite Caspian undergoing ceremorphosis and transforming into a towering abomination, Triple A emerged victorious and had Caspian's brain devoured by one of the Illithids he devoted himself to studying. With the people of Fallowburn now safe, the group returned to the surface and continued along their journey.

Triple A's next destination was Vatepor, where they reunited with High Archmage Alistair to determine where the rest of the Dragon Aspects could be found. It was decided that their next destination would be the Carcharian Isles, believing that Ignivul, the Divine Dragon of Fire, may be hiding in the volcanic Blacktip Mountain. Once their supplies were gathered, Triple A boarded their ship and began the long journey to the distant archipelago.
