Pelegon VI Pelegon, also called Pelegon the Glorious, and The Hammer of the Badawi, was the 20th Shahanshah. He was renowned as a warrior-king and spent most of his reign on various military campaigns, largely leaving the running of the realm to his Imperial Conclave. Unlike his peaceable father, Pelegon relished in tales of the battlefield and glory, he idolized his ancestor Pelegon I and wished to similarly be a conqueror of great renown.
He became known as Pelegon One-Eye after the loss of his eye in battle against the forces of Byuntun. The incident also led to his other nickname, the Madmerry. During a battle, a stone slung from a sling struck his head when his helmet had been knocked off, causing damage to his face which eventually necessitated the removal of his eye by his physicians. Blind with blood and battle drunkness, the Shahanshah madly laughed and cut down swathes of foes while his face bled and his eyeball ceased to function. When presented with the lowborn slinger who had struck out his eye, Pelegon embraced and pardoned the woman, loudly laughing when the story was retold and ordering the woman be granted a knighthood and a small keep.
Spending much of his reign on campaign while the Conclave governed in his stead. He reigned for thirty-four years and dramatically expanded the size of the Empire, annexing Byuntun and Neria and making forays into the Ba’hram Desert. He was killed by a combined force of Ba'hrammite warriors at the Battle of Red Sands and his body was cut into a thousand pieces and buried in the sands so that it would never be found.
