One of the few well-understood Epochal Artifacts, Scyseti was known to Commoners as the "Soulflare Sword" or the "Sunreaver". Composed of an unknown, meteor-like black metal that channeled impossible amounts of energy from its crossguard, this greatsword was historically wielded by different powers across the northern Head of the Greatwyrm. Wielders of the weapon were said to be able to channel their own soul through swordstrokes, turning their very essence into calamitous blasts of light; however, those who did not have the necessary force of will were unable to use Scyseti to its true potential.
Some scholars theorized that the blade was forged by the Azure Paragon, utilizing Leylines connected to the Positive Border to forge a weapon that could sunder the very world. The oldest records on the blade state that it was originally found in the Siren's Isles, which were once whole, but had been carved up by the power of the sword. These same legends spoke of a pirate dynasty that held the blade, but was lost by Dharus Sunreaver, until eventually found and taken to Scil-Qallis. The threat of the sword was enough to create the Scycaen Empire, however, as even great houses bowed before its destructive force.
Scyseti's pure destructive potential was a large factor in the uneasy peace between Commona and Scycae that lasted generations. Evidence of it this power stood at the mouth of Sycae-Scyceti, where the half-mountain Scyseti's Cut was sliced in twain by the Paladin Riyissan Terrescel in the Battle Of Sylphglade. After this feat, it was passed down the Terrescel family line for generations, forbidden from leaving the capital of the Scycaen Imperium.
