In Curse Of Strahd, Alexei decided to teach the young seer to fish at Lake Zarovich. In the early morning, no fish were biting, and he got extremely drunk out of boredom, eventually passing out. When he awoke, Arabelle was gone, with signs of a struggle around him. He panicked and rode back to the Vistani Camp to tell Luvash what had happened: in response, Luvash beat the man relentlessly with a whip until Ghalwin Forrester intervened.

Covered in blood and slashes, Alexei begged the Pack to not ruin his honor, as he believed he was deserving of further punishment for losing the Captain's daughter.

Ghalwin eventually returned after losing his party at Berez, and had been blinded during the experience. At Arabelle's request, Alexei taught the paladin how to maneuver again, remaining alert and perceptive despite his lack of eyesight. This training was successful, but when Ghalwin gained a type of blindsight from the Ladies Three, he quickly proved to be beyond Alexei's abilities in swordplay.

When Zandros took over, Alexei stayed subservient to him, as did all other permanent members of the camp, until the Heralds of Dawn ousted him and again put Luvash in charge. When the adventurers left, the Vistani mostly kept their heads down until the Slaying Of Strahd, fearing reprisal from the Count.
