Initially constructed by the Azure Paragon in the Age of Giants, the original name of this fortification was lost to time. Built on an exposed, bald cliffside deep in the Crowncrests, it was only accessible via sky or through an Underdark tunnel that lead up the cliffside towards it. The thick stone of the fort was reinforced by magical force created by complex Spellwork that only allowed Human hands to pass or dispel the magic for a short period. It had two floors; an upper subdivided into different sections such as barracks, kitchens, dining halls, and personal rooms, and a floor sixty feet below of great open space that secretly contained a Dragon's hoard.
Thousands of years after construction, the Silver Dragon Argynvost found the location. Interested in its design, he used it as an assembling place for his horde, and took it over as a barracks for the Order of the Silver Dragon. As this group of paladins took over, it became known as the "Silver Dragon's Hideout." Alongside his knights, he added additional fortifications against the Underdark opening, and began to move his personal horde of silver to the Hideout's second floor. He built magical traps and a drawbridge that could be raised against the tunnel, and employed a generational pact with a local Winter Wolf pack to watch over the hideout. The hideout was accessible by two Teleportation Circles, which lead to an underground tunnel in Emblem as well as to Argynvostholt.
After decades, Argynvost disappeared, and his nights inside were slain by a force sent by Strahd von Zarovich. This enemy group shut off the fort's magic, but the system was accidentally reset by a Tomb Tapper that entered in decades later seeking magic items.
