In Curse Of Strahd, she was flagged down by the Heralds of Dawn, who interviewed her. Eugenija had grown convinced that werewolves had infiltrated Krezk, but was told by Mormeros Fayan to not tell anyone else about her theory, as it could alert the perpetrators. However, the next day, she checked in on Oleg and found that all of the village's sheep had gone missing. Enraged, she went to Mormeros, who promised to investigate.
Not long after, a crowd began to gather at the farmhouse, and word spread through the town that Oleg had hired adventurers to kill the sheep. Eugenija went to join, but heard a scream, and was sidetracked by a horrible sight: Ilya Krezkov was eating the corpse of another villager. Ilya jumped at Eugenija with an unhinged jaw and tore her leg off. As she crawled away in pain, Ghalwin of the Grove appeared from the mists and healed her stump as the rest of the adventurers fought and killed Ilya. She thanked Ghalwin, but relayed the dire situation: with its sheep dead, Krezk would starve before the winter was over.
The Baroness Anna Krezkova was killed by the people of Krezk as she admitted that she had stolen sheep for Ilya, and the Burgomaster killed himself in grief, having lost everything. The people gathered to elect a temporary leader, and though she was still recovering from her missing leg, Eugenija was put in charge of Krezk until winter hit.
The new burgomaster took up residence in the Krezk Burgomaster's Cottage and forbade any contact with the Abbey of Saint Markovia, even when a parade of Mongrelmen came into the village to inform them of Vasilka's upcoming wedding to Strahd von Zarovich. Eugenija acted for months as Krezk's burgomaster, ruling as Dmitri had, until the Slaying Of Strahd.
