The Wightmist Archipelago was a vast, disconnected series of islands south of the Neck of the Greatwyrm, dividing the Sea of Trees from the Giantlands. Necromantic energy surged throughout the archipelago, and all manner of undead horrors had been encountered by navigators attempting to make it to the Great Giant's Gulf. Armies of undead aquatic Skeletons led by Wights clashed regularly on the waters, only halting their eternal battles to attack seafaring interlopers.
In the best of weather conditions, a thick haze surrounded the islands, making navigation by sea incredibly tricky. The fog could condense to a state nearly as thick as the Sea of Clouds, and Ghostly screams could be heard screaming across the archipelago. At its worst, Magic Storms ripped across the landscape as they did in much of the seas of Somnum's coast, combining with the fog and rocky outcroppings to become one of the deadliest areas in the known world.
Numerous islands in the Wightmist Archipelago were thought to once house Mortalkind settlements, with dilapidated castles, destroyed aqueducts, and ruined temples visible through the fog. Some scholars believed that ancient secrets regarding the Age of Giants were housed in these mysterious locations. However, the history of these areas were not adequately explored, as no explorers who docked on these islands returned alive.
The only known hospitable part of the Wightmist was at its northern edge, where the Last Light inn operated.
