In A Stygian Gambit, Quentin was frantically readying the Afterlife for its first Three-Dragon Ante tournament, dubbed the Grand Minauros Invitational, with an Erinyes statuette as its grand prize. He had not known that a group of Golden Vault thieves had been contacted by Duplicity, and had infiltrated his casino. When Thrill reported that his keycard was missing, the gnome fired him, not realizing it had been stolen as part of a greater heist.
During the tournament, the Afertlife's guards were locked up and its vault was emptied, as Quentin watched Anaïs Bellefleur run through the tournament. Before she won and he could declare a surprise, however, the Druid Leila Vencaryn began puking up magical spores, causing a distraction aided by affectations and tackling by Dee. The thieves stole the erinyes statuette amidst a magical fog cloud and multiple illutions, then scaled down the Afterlife's waterfall.
Quentin chased after them with guards, but was too late, and eventually saw Duplicity ferrying them into the Shifting Blue on a boat. As he shouted curses at her, she rode off through the coves, and the thieves were never found.
