Ellenor Breatham

A Half-Elf, half-Human heir to the noble Breatham family of Fang's End, Ellenor grew up amid her house's constant scandals and controversies. While her brother Nigel Breatham became a well-respected knight of his father's guard, Ellenor could not be bothered to attend to her duties as a lady of the court. She preferred to get herself in and our of mischief, becoming equally talented with the makeup brush as well as the lockpick. She caused her parents no end of problems, and they intended to be wed her away to a more powerful Common League house.

Upon learning these plans, Ellenor escaped that very night, and traveling westward. Before leaving, she took a few treasures from her family, and used them to pay her way with privacy. Nigel was sent out to retrieve her, to maker sure no evidence of this scandalous adventure came to light. She quickly found herself on hard times, scraping for basic supplies while trying to stay one step ahead of her brother, and only went by the shorthand "Elle" while traveling.

Scraping by in various underworlds, the former noble found her destiny in Phyracress, where she met the Whistledrop Crew. Taken in by Nessa Nina Quickpick Rumbauld Pennyluck, Elle was taught skills to become a Rogue by a higher-up in the Crew, Dee. Though the two girl's skill sets differed, their builds were nearly identical, and they learned how easily they could imitate one another’s movements and habits. Elle adopted a matching mask, and the two began working as a pair, often difficult to tell apart even to those who did not know them well. Their bond grew into something closer than partnership, filling the place of family both had lost.

Their time together ended abruptly. While half the Crew was away on a heist, a dark knight discovered the Whistledrop Crew Hideout. Flanked by a small band of mercenaries, this group attacked the hideout, which was manned by only a ghost crew. Elle recognized the intruder as her brother, Nigel, who had come to drag her back to a life she had escaped. Dee hid Elle and used their resemblance to delay him until help could arrive, but the effort cost her life. In his rage, Nigel seized Dee and killed her while Elle watched from hiding. The fight left the hideout in flames, and by morning nothing remained but ash.

Elle disappeared from the Whistledrop Crew, leading Nessa Nina to disband it, and stayed in hiding for nearly a full year, living a meagre and homeless lifestyle. She ended up narrowly avoiding a scrape with a local street gang thanks to a life cleric named Matthew the Ascended. The Birdfolk was traveling west, by foot, and Ellenor found him dense but fascinating. Recognizing that she owed him her life, she decided to join him, though did not tell him her true name.
