Nessa Nina Quickpick Rumbauld Pennyluck

Nessa Nina Quickpick Rumbauld Pennyluck was a Gnome, native to a small Fey colony in the Murkmire Marshlands. An independent spirit, she made a name for herself in the lower circles of the Fencrest Foothills as both a master thief and a sharp Three-Dragon Ante player. With a cohort of similar Rogues, Nessa Nina moved to Phyracress, established the Whistledrop Crew, and carved out the Whistledrop Hideout. She led this team of small-time thieves, who eventually gained infamy for both their mischief and skill. Despite their vocation, they followed a code of honor, stealing mainly from high-profile targets or acting to aid those in serious trouble.

As she aged, Nessa Nina had children, and let her skills atrophy. Though her Crew was on the wane, she still took students. The best of her last crop was Dee, who looked to take the mantle from Nessa and become the Crew's new leader. Dee had grown close to the runaway noblewoman Elle, and Nessa Nina also developed affection for the girl. Her two proteges grew close, often posing as each other using masks and disguise kits, and for a time, Nessa Nina planned to give the future of the Crew to them.

However, this period was cut short when Ellenor's brother Nigel Breatham had uncovered the crew after following Ellenor across western Commona. The Ambush At The Whistledrop Hideout followed; in the aftermath, Dee had been killed, along with several other Crew members, and Elle disappeared. Nigel and his band of mercenaries went looking after his sister, leaving only a few to pick up the pieces. After this incident, Nessa Nina disbanded the Whistledrop Crew, and retired west in the opulent city of Cliffsunder.

Her grandson Merben Ordri Fizzlehide Pennyluck had gotten into trouble with the Glitterati, a gang of Fairies who ran many of the seediest operations on the Grandport. She was forced to use nearly her entire retirement fund to pay off Don Coriander Thorn, the leader of the Fey gang. Afterwards, she got Merben a job as a busboy at Glumfall's Luxury Tavern to keep him out of trouble. Having spent everything to ensure Merben's safety, however, Nessa was again in need for coin.
