Thrakmuk'Krum

Called Thrakmuk'Krum in Orc but referred to in Common as the War-Beating Heart or the Drum of Ataraxia, was a world-shifting Epochal Artifact, theorized to be the greatest work of Enchantment ever created. However, information on the drum was scant. Those who held it seemingly disappeared, and the artifact rarely fell into hands of Mortalkind who would record their history. Oral tradition indicated, however, that some Orcish s divined it to have adopted power from a Leyline to the Lower Realms, capable of conducting marches through the Nine Hells themselves.

It was said that the sound of the War-Beating Heart cast a mantle of composure over those who hear it. Warriors within six hundred feet find themselves freed from fear and charm, their courage tempered into clarity. A single strike of the drum granted them a surge of vigor, bolstered by temporary strength and a gift of inspired fortune. In battle this effect had no limit; every beat sustained its allies, making the host that bears it nearly unstoppable. Armies wielding the Drum press forward without hesitation, their morale unshaken no matter the odds.

The drum was known to once be carried by the Great Chief Uzuk Drumbeater in the Age of Giants, whose name then marked the Uzuklands forever after. With the artifact, Uzuk rallied the greatest Orc horde ever known, driving back a Giant army that had gathered in the Body of the Greatwyrm. Though Uzuk would later fall in mysterious circumstances, his drum remained, shaping the Pikes for millenia.

Because of its power, the War-Beating Heart rarely remained in the possession of one individual for long. It was often passed between tribes, stolen under cover of night or claimed in the chaos of battle. Thus, it became both a blessing and a curse of the Uzuklands, an heirloom that ensured victory while sowing endless struggle among those who sought to command its thrum.
