Nocter Yinshera

Nocter Yinshera was born in Fort Verdane to two career soldiers who raised him within its rigid military system. From childhood he showed uncommon talent for Spellcraft, mastering structured drills and battlefield incantations with ease. He had little patience for theory that did not serve combat, and he focused his studies on destructive Evocation, wards, and counterspells. In time he earned distinction as a battle Wizard and was repeatedly conscripted into expeditions sent to probe the shifting dangers of the Sea of Trees.

Nocter built a reputation for composure under pressure and a willingness to advance where others hesitated. He accompanied mixed companies of scouts, soldiers, and arcanists into the forest’s interior, tasked with mapping its terrain and identifying the source of its distortions. Each campaign hardened him. He returned home between deployments to instruct his younger sister Luana Yinshera in the fundamentals of spellcraft, teaching her discipline and precision while steering her toward practical magic suited for survival in Verdane’s ranks.

During a raid into the Howling Hollowland, Nocter was ambushed and nearly killed by a Tiger, a seemingly-strange creature to encounter amongst the Undead that permeated the area. His allies rescued him, but all were unaware that he carried Lycanthropy back to the city. On the next full moon, Nocter transformed into a Weretiger and, in a loss of control, killed his parents and infected Luana. When clarity returned, he used a Potion of Healing to save his sister’s life, but their parents were beyond aid.

Aware that Verdane’s authorities would hunt them and fearing what he might become, Nocter ordered Luana to flee. He then vanished into the Sea of Trees, choosing exile over the risk of further bloodshed.
