Killer Bees

Nokelume 24th, 989 IaC

  • The group clashed with the mages from the College of Buckhold, Ilryn starting off the combat with an Eldritch Blast
    • The mage leader shrugged off the blast and attempted to muddle the minds of the party with a Confusion spell, but Cora's Protective Aura bolstered the group, and Ilryn was the only one affected
    • Lambchop approached and hid from the mages as Steve blasted them with a Fireball
    • Cora came up behind the crouching Lambchop and asked him to throw her at the mages
    • The large sword-wielder approached Lambchop's position and noticed his attempt at hiding, and slashed at him with his intimidating greatsword
      • He commanded Lambchop relinquish his hammer Dustmaker, stating that his low blood had no right to wield it
      • The man cut straight through Lambchop's eye, gashing it through the center and cutting through Soup's charcoal drawing of Cora 
    • Kel attacked the sword wielder with Whirl and Blessed the group
    • One of the mages conjured an illusion around Mera to trap her inside, but she was able to overcome its influence on her mind
    • In return for Steve's fire, one of the mages sent a Fireball of his own into the middle of the party, causing some carnage
    • Ilryn mindlessly stared at the ceiling under the effects of the Confusion, but was able to break about of the spell at the end of her turn
    • Lambchop raged and attacked the sword wielder, bashing him with his hammer and then using his second attack to pick up Cora by the leg, swinging her at the man as Cora cut straight though the man's armor
    • Cora drove Zevian's Nail deep into the man, felling him as he threatened them for their insolence
    • Steve attempted to Hold some of the mages, but they shrugged off his magic, and he hid again
    • Cora and Ilryn resisted a Hold Person spell from them mages themselves
    • Kel threw a tooth but it landed harmlessly on the mage's armor, and she retreated somewhat
    • Mera was pulled out of position by mind magic by one of the mages
    • In response, Mera launched a Lightning Bolt through the mouth of the cave, taking a chunk out of one of the mages and hitting the mage leader as well
    • One of the mages attempted to run, and Erigor appeared and jumped onto his back, stabbing him to death
      • The party noticed that Erigor had two heads
    • Ilryn attacked the mages, exploding a hole in the chest of one of the mages
    • Lambchop "changed fate" and the mage leader, without Dimension Door, threw a Fireball into the group and turned to flee
      • Mera went down, but Lambchop endured the hit with his stupid racial bonus garbage
    • Cora healed Mera to pick her back up again
    • Steve began searching through the swordsman, discovering he was still alive
    • Erigor summoned four giant blue horses, sending them to attack the party
    • The swordsman awoke, cutting at Steve who shielded, but his second attack dropped the old man
    • Kel spared Steve and attacked the swordsman with her cape, cutting his head off
    • Mera shot out another Lightning Bolt, disintegrating one of the blue horses, though Erigor dodged it with ease
    • The horses squeezed into the mouth of the cave, attacking Mera, dropping her and trampling her unconscious body
    • Ilryn casted Blur on herself and used Mask of Fear to frighten the the horses
    • Lambchop began smacking the horses with his hammer
    • Cora struck another horse, slashing it into nothingness
    • Erigor sprayed the cave full of bees, stinging the party up, dropping Lambchop, sending Steve back into dying and outright killing Mera
      • Erigor also sent his bees after the mage leader, killing him as well
    • Kel healed the party, bringing Lambchop and Steve back up
    • Mera felt herself get pulled into a strange realm of canvas and paint, held by a strange entity
    • The horses ran in fear from Ilryn's shield, and Lambchop and Ilryn smacked another one into nothingness as they fled
    • The group began pummeling Erigor, smashing him into pieces as Cora dealt a final, powerful smiting blow
    • In the throes of death, Erigor began to bloat with glowing blue energy, leaping upon Cora and exploding into searing blood
  • Kel rushed over the heal Mera, using her diamond to pull her back from death
    • Mera was ripped from the grasp of the strange entity, who imparted that they were watching, and anxiously anticipated her next work
  • The party looted the various corpses around the cavern, discovering the body of the mage leader outside as well
    • Found a large metal staff on the mage leader
    • Lambchop harvested a set of five strange rings from the mages
    • Steve took a ornate dagger from the scrappy looking mage
    • Lambchop pilfered the large dark greatsword from the swordsman
    • Ilryn took the strangely spiky armor off the mage leader and cut open a gash in his back, sucking up all his blood and desiccating his corpse
      • Tossed the armor in the Bag of Holding
    • Discovered 433 gold, 18 platinum and 700 electrum between them, 320 of which went to Kel for her diamond
    • 2 quarterstaves
    • 4 sets of human sized full plate armor, two of which were ruined
    • Steve found a spellbook on the Thin Mage written in Kharvat containing Bestow Curse, Comprehend Languages, Hideous Laughter, Crown of Madness, and Suggestion
    • Found a ledger of experimental fallout, instructions to destroy evidence of magical tampering as well as to find and kill the library thieves
  • Finding Erigor's cocoon reforming, Lambchop cut it open and stuffed the drained corpse of the mage leader inside
  • "Land ship"
  • The party tossed the corpses of the mages inside the cave and Ilryn blasted the entrance shut
  • Uneasy about heading back into town with so much heat, the party found a spot to rest and Steve set up a Tiny Hut
    • About an hour into the group's rest, a man rushed up to the edge of the hut, banging on it and pleading for help, eventually running off when there was no response from the group
    • In the distance, they heard the man scream, and soon found themselves surrounded by prowling werewolves
    • As the werewolves were incapable of entering the hut, the group decided to go back to resting

Nokelume 25th, 989 IaC

  • The group awoke to find no werewolves as the hut dissipated
  • The group headed back into Bucktuck City in disguise, heading through the Barbed Bird in the morning
    • Mera bought an overly expensive cloak from a street merchant
    • Heading to the bottom of the fight pit, Mera tried knocking on the wall to find the entrance to the subterranean tunnels
    • Figuring out the code behind the knocks, Steve helped translate for Mera, and the group made their way down after Kel flashed her medallion
  • In the Unknown, the group was summoned by Thassen Threecoats to speak about their recent actions
    • Stating he was amused by their dealings with the College of Buckhold and their dispelling of curses around the town, he warned them that their actions have painted a target on their heads
    • Threecoats stated that most who had attempted to deal with the curses in the past wound up disappearing, hence why he had the party deal with the one on his door
    • He offered the Sunken Strand as a place for the group to lay low for a while until their business in the city had concluded
    • He also allowed them one use of his magic door, which could take them to Reedenford
    • Cora offered him one of the soul-filled gems from the mine in return
  • The party approached Garash the Dealmaker, asking about some of the items they found
    • Lambchop attempted to trade the rings he found for the Bag of Wind, which Garash refused, saying they were cursed
    • Mera asked Garash to make it so Jinjle didn't need to poop, which he refused
    • Garash identified the staff Ilryn found, offering 500 electrum, which she refused
    • Mera's "advances" (as interpreted by Lambchop) unsettled Garash, who closed up shop in the middle of the day
  • The group spent their time in the Sunken Strand engaged in various endeavors
    • Cora read through the book the got from Garash on lockpicking
    • Lambchop convinced Steve to identify the sword Banished Executioner in return for 5 bags of seckpin
    • Steve identified a mundane staff and the magical dagger Thorn
    • Steve attempted to convince Ilryn to part with her book on time magic, and she vehemently refused
    • Ilryn attuned to the Iron Commander, but couldn't discern the complete nature of it
    • Steve then convinced Cora to steal Ilryn's book, promising his crystal containing the curse that was removed from him by Lasley Yonnelfield
    • Ilryn read her book, discovering a bit more about chronomancy and retromancy
      • She read more about Merrick the Mad, who is considered the "father" of time magic
      • She read about a woman Merrick was infatuated with, his rival in time that engineered much of the retromancy used to fight him
      • She was whisked away by him at some point, and her name in the book varied in a constant state of flux
      • Additionally, Ilryn learned of the existence of "shards of time", creations of retromancy that stabilize time in a radius around them, highly prized for their power and used in throne rooms of great kingdoms and in the estates of the fabulously wealthy
    • Mera harassed a nervous pot merchant named Bowlen
    • Lambchop bought a tight, expensive suit from a shady dude
    • Kel exited the cave to visit Evelforth and inform her about the successful completion of her task
      • Kel later returned with a misty, cold mace known
  • The group laid low for the rest of the night, getting occasional glances from the people around
    • Cora managed to thief away Ilryn's book as she slept, placing it in Steve's bag

Nokelume 26th, 989 IaC

  • Ilryn immediately noticed her book was missing, confronting Steve as Cora broke and admitted to stealing it
    • Facing Ilryn's ire, Steve returned the book, and she walked off in a huff
  • Steve attempted to identify Zevian's Nail, understanding that it is a relic of the god Zevian, and he is capable of observing the users of the sword as an aspect of his being is contained within it
  • Avra commanded Ilryn to eat her demon heart, which she tried to do raw, but couldn't stomach
    • Ilryn borrowed some cooking implements from Lambchop and boiled the heart in salt, attracting some attention from people passing by
    • Lambchop continually convinced people that Mera was hitting on them
    • Ilryn was approached by an interested party, commenting that she had "something that didn't belong to her"
    • The Sandy Man that had attacked Ilryn before came at her with a knife and she destroyed him with her whip
    • In killing one, a cloud of glittering sand filled the air, and two more popped out
    • Steve held the both of them with a spell as Mera doused them with the boiling water in the pot, reducing them to muddy piles of sand
    • Lambchop and a strange wanderer both peed on the piles of sand for good measure
    • Ilryn eventually ate the demon heart, growing sharp teeth and gaining an appetite for meat
  • Steve attempted to buy some magical scribing ink, but ended up getting swindled by a merchant for 350 gold, only buying mundane ink
    • Lambchop helped Steve track the escaping merchant through the underground tunnels
    • The two encountered a group of bound elves surrounded by some armed guards
    • Ignoring that can of worms, Lambchop found the house of the merchant and intimidated him into returning Steve's gold
  • Mera worked on some pottery, attracting the attention of her stalker god
    • It whispered into her mind, attempting to convince her to kill Bowlen and use his blood as glaze

Nokelume 27th, 989 IaC

  • Ilryn stopped by the Fitting Room, picking up her armor and sneaking away with invisibility
  • The party approached Threecoats for the use of his magic door back to Reedenford and they went through one by one, ending up in an expansive cave
    • The group investigated their surroundings before deciding to head up the hole
    • After taking all the party's rope, Ilryn flew up the hole and threw the rope down, the group climbing up with Mera and Steve using Spiderclimb
    • The group found themselves inside the dungeon they had cleared underneath Serpent's End
    • Lambchop took the rubies he plundered from the snake statue and shoved them back inside, causing them to surge with power and eventually explode
    • At the top, Steve cast Knock on the locked door, opening it
    • Disturbed by the loud noise, Raldon Tarrod rushed to check on it, finding the party and ushering them out of his bar
  • The party went back to Cloverhall
    • The group turned in their bounty for the thief to Adamine Longshallow, who also asked about Unknown to Mera
    • Mera talked around the issue of Dathon's death, convincing her that Dathon was alive and fine by showing Adamine the drugs she stole from his corpse
  • Steve began identifying some of the group's plunders, taking the dagger Thorn, and giving the staff Iron Commander to Mera
  • Ilryn, still angry at Steve's attempt to steal her book, complained to Adamine about Steve being her roommate
    • In response, Adamine set up a mediating session between the two, eventually forcing them to agree to respecting each other's boundaries and not change rooms
  • When Cora returned to her room to relax, she found Connor Bramblemoon looking in at her through the window outside
    • Connor rushed around the side of the guild, meeting Cora outside and embracing her, with Cora resisting an influence on her mind to reciprocate in kind
    • Connor began fawning over Cora, asking numerous questions about her intentions as the guild members watched her
      • Connor was revealed as the "bough" of Cora, bound by their vows to Unavaranu
      • Cora tried her best to keep Connor from crying
      • Mera and Ilryn kept taunting Connor, making it seem like Cora was in a relationship with Lambchop
      • Cora revealed that she wasn't quite herself (Cora Merrywine), causing him to worry incessantly
    • Cora convinced Connor to head to an inn and find a private place to discuss matters
    • Heading to the Slug Fisher, Connor purchased a room and the two began to chat as the rest of the group snuck up and listened
      • Connor attempted to cast some healing spells on Cora to help with her "condition", but they didn't appear to do anything
      • Cora elaborated on her condition, claiming that her consciousness was that of someone named Caedali, and that her mind transferred over to her killer's body when she died
      • When Connor was being held by a goblin bandit, Osh, the "real" Cora, rescuing Connor, killed Osh and Caedali's mind transferred to her
      • Connor practically refused to understand the scenario, vowing to not leave Cora's side until she was right of mind again
      • "It's just a goat bro, BWUEEEEH"
      • When the others made some noise outside the room, Connor went to investigate and Mera cast the image of a goat on top of Lambchop, easily fooling him despite Lambchop talking
    • Cora and Connor headed downstairs, and Cora introduced Connor to the party
      • As Connor attempted to leave, but Mera refused his attempts to do so
      • "Let's drink some water"
      • The party messed with him a bit, making him stay for a while
      • Lambchop wants to "chain him to his back"
  • Cora headed back to the guild with Connor, convincing Adamine to provide them an empty room to stay in together
  • Lambchop discovered that Rorug Fletsworn's room door was no longer locked and was swung wide open
    • Investigating, Lambchop discovered that the room was filled with demonic statues, circles of blood, and a ritual circle surrounded by candles at the center of which was a solitary, crudely painted picture of himself
