Pelegon IV Pelegon was a the 13th Shahanshah. He was a sweet and gentle boy, who succeeded his mother after her poisoning. He ruled for just over a month as the forces loyal to rival claimant Pelegon V besieged Arcanopolis. As the city ran out of food and news of the major Legitimists defeat at the Battle at the Pass of Highwall reached the city, Pelegon was murdered by his advisors, who presented the boy's severed head to Prince Abbos Pelegon as a sign of surrender and fealty.
The inclusion of Pelegon IV’s statue in the Garden of the Emperors was a matter of immense controversy. The advisors of Pelegon V, Prince Abbos chief amongst them, advised against any reference of the boy, preferring instead to allow “that dreadful business” to fade with time. Some even went as far as to suggest that Pelegon IV be removed from the succession entirely, and for Pelegon V to take the regnal number “IV”. However, Pelegon V felt immense guilt and despair over Pelegon IV’s death, and personally saw to the sculpting of a statue for the young Emperor.
