In the Murkmire Malevolence, with mere hours left in the Murkmire Stone's gestation period, Doctor Dannel reached out to Golden Vault to reclaim the stone. She found a flirting companion in "Devona Shemona" as she outlayed her plan in Sage's Quill, providing them with Doctor Dannel's Map. After the heist was successful, they brought it back to Doctor Danell's Apartment. With the stone rendered inert inside a specialized crystal casing, Cassee was then courted by the many-named Rogue, and Dee sealed the victory with a kiss.
Cassee Dannel was born in Phyracress, but moved to Cliffsunder as a young girl as her father looked to make money on the Grandport. Despite only speaking Scycaen when she arrived, she quickly picked up Common, and as she grew, her intellect was obvious. Considered a prodigy at her school, she was granted a full scholarship to the Whiteharbour Academy, where she studied cultures and natural sciences.
By age twenty-four, Cassee had earned her doctorate in anthropology from that prestigious institution, and the Doctor made a career of learning about the peoples and cultures of the Fencrest Foothills. Her ability to connect local archaeological objects with their cultural context was unrivaled, so after her graduation, Dr. Dannell became a faculty member and field scientist, accompanying the archaeology crews on digs in the Murkmire Marshlands.
Eventually, these efforts bore fruit, as she assisted with the uncovering of the Murkmire Stone. According to Dannel's research, the Murkmire Stone was actually an egg containing a horrible Abberation, due to hatch in a matter of days after discovery. She presented her findings to the university's administrators, who deemed her work pseudoscience and refused to interfere with the Cliffsunder Museum of Natural History's upcoming exhibition of the Murkmire Stone. Desperate, Cassee snuck into the museum after-hours and tried to steal the stone, but she was caught by the curator Alda Arkin. The university disavowed her actions and fired her.
