The Neck of the Greatwyrm was a mountain range that divided Somnum from the Giantlands. Many believed that the range was a continuation the Wealdshield past Mountain's Meet, and was therefore a subrange of Greatwrym's Gullet. It was unknown where the mountains terminated, however, as they disappeared northward into the Sea of Clouds.
A far journey from the nearest cities of the Common League, the Neck received few visitors. The range was known to host a variety of giant-descended tribes, such as Ogres and Goliaths, who vied for control of the region. Even the most dangerous of these clans posed little threat to Commona, however, as the sheer size of the Dotted Plains and the Mark of Elteos between it protected its valuable lands from mountain raids.
Often called the "Pikes of Uzuk" or the "Uzuklands" by Mortalkind, the mountains were so named after the Great Chief Uzuk Drumbeater, a famed Orc who had managed to rally the greatest tribe of his kind ever seen against Giant invaders from the east. Less-known, however, was how Uzuk achieved such a feat. Scholars of the Azure Paragon were aware that Uzuk possessed an Epochal Artifact, likely the Thrakmuk'Krum, to rally such a force.
