Stella Wachter

Baronetess

The youngest member of the Wachter family, Stella was the daughter of Fiona and Nikolai Wachter, and the sister of Nikolai II and Karl. She was a caring girl with some grace, who sought not to take up much space in a room. As a teenager, she devoted herself to the "Morninglord", becoming one of the most regular patrons of Saint Andral's Church, and was mostly concerned with tending to her family.

Rumours about Stella swirled when she was set to be engaged into the Vallakovich family, a move orchestrated by her mother for political strength. During her courtship with her to-be fiancee Viktor Vallakovich, she became increasingly insane. She tore up her wedding dress as if she was feral, and stopped attending the church, becoming reclusive to even her family. Eventually, the engagement was called off, and few members of the village saw either of the two after the breakup. Though there was mystery regarding Stella's sudden madness, rumours abounded that Viktor had said such unkind words to her that she had been driven insane.

The truth, however, was far darker, as he detailed in Viktor Vallakovich's Journal. As a child, Viktor had come into possession of a Spellbook that Baron Vargas Vallakovich had confiscated from a wizard adventurer, Xana Habblegabble Goldworthy. Though mad himself, Viktor possessed intelligence, and spent years in his room uncovering and practicing book's magical language. Eventually, he became proficient enough to begin to test the book's many illusory and enchantment Spells, but did not want to reveal his secrets to the many eyes in his household.

When Fiona arrived, he mistakenly cast a spell on her, but found her to be a useful subject. He repeatedly inflicted magical fears, charms, and domination effects, before partially wiping away her memories; eventually Fiona's mind was broken to the point that she thought herself to be a Housecat. Reluctantly, her mother kept her locked in her room, where she behaved like a feral cat. Outside of her family, the only one to visit Fiona would be Majesto, pranking the mad girl by pretending to be a Dog or another cat himself.
