Atlas Atruvian

This character is dead.
Father

A follower of Umera born in Wistimere, Atlas Atruvian was a Spellcaster concerned with living a life of stoic piety. Blessed with minor holy skills through devotion to the sun god, he grew up devout and had a "normal" religious life. He would travel to spread his gospel, but eventually settle, raising a family and becoming a vicar of a minor cathedral on the outskirts of Emblem. Known as Father Atlas, he mostly focused on attending to the maintenance of his church, especially after his wife passed away in the year 80. Forced to raise his daughter Joana Atruvian alone, he did so in the same pious way he was raised, and struggled to navigate his life as a father alongside his life as a Father.

At some point, without Atlas' knowledge, Joana got involved with a cult of Ixhis. His daughter began behaving erratically, not in line with the tenets of deouvt protection and justice that Umyra demanded. Atlas did his best to understand Joana as a loving father, not wanting to drive his daughter further by espousing his church's own morals. However, the virtues of death that Ixhis espoused presented a fundamental imbalance with his lifetime teachings, and he began to feel torn apart with his dual responsibilities.

Eventually, Joana was convinced to lead her cult in through backways of Atlas' church; she had privy to this knowledge as the daughter of a vicar, and malcontents began attacking the church. Atlas caught her, but she seemed confused, as if magically charmed, and began asking for his help. He hesitated, not knowing whether to go after his daughter or defend his parish, and ultimately was unable to save either as the cultists burned his cathedral and Joana was caught in the inferno.

For his inaction and inability to mete forces of evil with justice, Atlas was disowned from the church of Umera. With nowhere to turn and staring down death, he found solace in another divine force. He felt a connection with Umyra's sister goddess Umori, who protected the balance of nature and the sanctity of the dead. Accepting duty from Umori as a Cleric of twilight, he was tasked with traveling demiplanes of the Umbral Realms and righting imbalances against the cycle of life and death.

As a boon for accepting this lifelong duty, he was granted a Planar CompassUmori guided Atlas to many minor tasks, and when he proved himself as a cleric and conduit of her power, she sent him on a greater mission: to rid the valley of Barovia from its tyrant Strahd von ZarovichOnce Atlas pierced the mists guarding the demiplane, he toiled along the Old Svalich Road for days. A solo traveler in a hostile land, he moved carefully and slowly, though Umori's blessing sheltered him from the horrors of Barovia. His compass set to Castle Ravenloft, he followed its path along the road until he reached Vallaki.
